Blaugrana
As you already know when you try to open unknown files you are forced to go through a list of known applications to choose. That’s why I like to have a context menu option for “Open with Notepad” so that I can quickly open up files without having to go through a lot of trouble. It's a simple registry hack technique which can also be used to substitute any other application that you’d like by adjusting the path in the registry to point to the different editor.- Do it manually:Open regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box and then browse down to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellRight-click on “shell” and choose to create a new key, calling it “Open with Notepad”. Create a new key below that one called “command”. Double-click on the (Default) value in the right-hand pane and enter in the following: notepad.exe %1The change should take effect immediately… just right-click on any file and you’ll see the next menu entry.- Download the registry hack (includ. Remove Open With Notepad) :http://www.mediafire.com/download/2q9qj4kwukkaf7p/Open+With+Notepad.rar

Blaugrana
hey.. its not working..i have used the reg file that wat u uploaded... i right click on all types of file but.......This is not what it is supposed to do, the registry hack should add "Open With Notepad" option which you click and Notepad will open automatically. The open with ... option is already there. i checked both the add and the remove registry hack and both of them are working fine.

dcs18
As a thumb-rule, the Open with Notepad context menu is available, by default. Those who use Notepad++ instead of Notepad and have lost the Edit with Notepad++ from their context menu may want to use the following registry entry:-http://www.mediafire.com/download/yh7kurhoe8h5j4g/Open_With_Notepad%2B.rar
