LazyPotato
A whole list here -> http://www.nsaneforums.com/index.php?app=members§ion=view&module=list&filter=3I've been in 60 others forums, but there -- Newly joined memebers posted, not just hung their accounts for no reason...Isn't it kinda creepy? I guess only 300-400 memebers are active. Most of people who are online are guests.
LOQUILLO
I think the best would force them to post at a certain time or serious rudest eliminate all those accounts, the Admins determine to do with them.
TheAslan
This is the main issue in several different website, how to get newly registered users to post, I'm quite sure of that they would have some useful topics, tricks and stuff, but how to get them to post those.... Arachnoid
Some forums have time limits requiring a post every few months but that said many silent members usually fall into one of three catagorys1:To read knowledgeable and informative posts2:To leach software or ideas3: Find lack of content in the forum to get involved inI usually find a "say hello new members" post helps to get people involved or one that involves an easy response i.e. post an image
SnakeMasteR
It's not a requirement to post, i bet there are a bunch of people that were just "visitors" before and choosed to be part of the family while registering an account, just to give one visitor a "name". I think zero-posters shouldn't be banned, if they are active in the forums, they do nothing wrong when they just search and stuff. What a time frame could be to count as inactive, i think 6 months or longer would fit (let's say all accounts with zero posts and 6 months of inactivity will be deleted automatically). clubhouse
If they have downloaded a software or gained some knowledge from a post a simple 'thank you' would be nice, I know its not encouraged but it is a way to show gratiude.

dcs18
Members can be divided broadly into 2 categories - many who do not post and some who do. Have found many members with zero posts engaging in PMs for favors (had to eventually disable it.)However, while members who post are desirable - it's highly undesirable when they post for the sake of posting. One needs to weigh one's words carefully before making an opinion (it's credibility at stake.)Words of Wisdom:-Wise men post because they have something to sayFools post because they have to say something.Utter sweet words - you never know when you'll be made to eat them . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You mean this thread? :)In that thread, what rudrax was saying about the grammar was to the thread starter (who himself mentioned his grammar was not good), the grammar thing wasn't aimed at you. ;)
dcs18
The first comment I got back seemed a bit insulting.I can relate to that - my first post at this board was in the form of assistance to a person who appealed for help in removing the TuneUp Utilities entry from his startup. After receiving assistance from me that person responded by stating that he already knew about the solution.Do not be dejected - I was not (I treated that person's response as his way of saying, "thank you.") :dunno:Edit:BTW, today that person belongs to the staff. Have found many members with zero posts engaging in PMs for favors (had to eventually disable it.)I'm in the former category. I've been coming here so long I don't remember how I found it, but I rarely post unless I have something to say. I visit every day, reading news articles, checking the latest community activity, but unless something really catches my eye, I read and move on. kn_andre
Food For Thought As regards to this topic, i would like to be as Unbiased as i can in what am about to say and i hope the Moderators, Administrators and the Old / Founders of this Community will actually have time to read my humble Opinions. First and Foremost, before i proceed, i would like to say a Very Very Very Big TRAILER Loads of Thank you to the Founders and Creators of NSaneforums.com . From the Bottom of my Heart I Thank you for Creating, Building, Nurturing and Maintaining this Website . You Guys have done an Awesome Job here and i for one will like to tell you all that i Really Appreciate your Efforts which you are putting Everyday. Administrating / Moderating a Website is sometimes a thankless Job As some Members Do not even realize the hard Work that is Put into running a Website of this Standard! Maintaining a Website of this Standard is not an Easy Job and i Admire all you Guys Courage and Steadfastness in Keeping this Community Alive! Anything Worth Doing is Definitely Worth Doing Well, So, it behoves on ALL right Minded Members to Once in a While Say Thanks and Show Some Appreciation to all The Founders, Administrators and Moderators of this Site for them to know that the " Free " Members of this site Recognize and respect their Good Work and Efforts. Now back to the Issue of New Members Posting or Not Posting .... Some Wise People said and i Quote " If you Don't have anything Nice to say, then DON'T say Anything at All " This is a Totally True Statement which I believe Most people will agree with. It means before we Open our mouths, we should first think about what we are going to say and how it will Affect others? We should be Polite and Courteous to everybody we interact with. If you are going to Insult someone - Then DON'T !!! It is better Not to say anything at All than to say Something Mean! Therefore Lets all be Nice and Kind to each other. Earlier, i said " Free Members " and am right because this Forum is Free for Everybody to Register ! The Owners of this Website do NOT request Anybody to Pay a Any Subscription fee for us to become Members or make a Post. It is a Totally Free Community where we are all Supposed to Learn, Teach, Share and even Entertain each other "Maturely" . Everybody has their Reasons/Agenda of joining any Forum. Some join just to get help to Solve their problems, some to get " Free " Premium Software, Some to genuinely share their Vast Knowledge of IT/Computers, Some to Educate and Enlighten others with new Innovations/Inventions, Some to brighten and put Smiles on people faces by sharing Funny jokes, Stories/Pictures, while some join Nsaneforums just to attain VIP/ VETERAN status in the SHORTEST Possible Time and get that Official marks on their Profile - by making Hundreds of Unwarranted/Needless/Meaningless Supposedly " Posts " I for my part Know why i Joined Nsaneforums and i clearly Explained my reasons for joining this Forum, which can be seen in my First Post/Greetings on the day that i registered. Heck i have seen Members who joined way after i did become VIP .. Maybe because they Posted Much more and attained a certain Number of Posts that Qualify a Member to Attain VIP Status ???? If i am wrong please correct me, so i stand to be corrected. Also, may i Add that there are quite some Older Members who are no Longer Active in this Forums as they used to do in the past - may i go out on a Limb and Guess that they feel reluctant Probably because they feel that some " New " Members are just Spamming the Boards with Thoughtless and Needless Posts??? As i stated in my first post, i had been following Nsaneforums for a very long time by Visiting daily till the point when i felt i should registered and become a Member. Everyday i visit this Forums - Most times i Sign in Invisible and go through what i want to do. There are even times when i said Thanks to People who posted Updates to Software that i Do Not even use - why ?? Because, it is Nice to Say Thank you to People when they do something Good or share new Information with others !! Just as it is nice to speak in a very sweet way with Fellow Members of this Forums. Yes the Name of this Community is Nsaneforums but we do not have to all Literally act like Insane People do we ??? And Yes this is a Virtual Online Community where we don't meet face to face, but we must all realize that all Members who sits in front of their Computer/Laptop to Interact with us is a Human Being !! So we are all Under Obligation to Show some form of respect and moral Etiquette when speaking to and with them . Lets all come to this Forum to Encourage and Educate each other Not to Insult or Tear Down Each other !!! May we all join our Hands to help Nurture this Community so that it can Grow to Greater Heights and Become the Envy of other Forums... I would have loved to make this my Post ( Food for Thought ) into a New Thread but i don't know if am allowed to create a New Thread seeing the fact that i am a " Member " with few Posts under my belt. However, i want to Apologize in Advance to everybody who does not like to read Long Boring Posts . Sorry for writing a long Post too .. But Once again i like to Thank the Creators, Administrators and Moderators of this Forums for their Inspiration. You Good work is not Unnoticed .. And thanks to everybody for Allowing me Share my Thoughts here .. Happy Weekend and Cheers .... :) :) :)

Alanon
Seems to me that the only ones who need to find themselves deleted are members who failed to log in for several years, AND have 0 posts. Everything else might just be wrong. What if a person was ill in some way, and could not get access to the computer? On the other hand, "leechers" still have to have at least 5 posts for some of the areas? So their membership and 0 posts are really only formal? If someone hasn't posted anything in 3 years as a member, he can't even enter the CC, and still only browses everything that a guest does... I don't know what to say. But a line still has to begin somewhere. From yet another angle, we must ponder whether we want to be one of those sites who are restrictive to the user base? And while the clutter is bothersome, I don't see it hampering functionality of the forums, or anyone personally. And it might be best to leave well enough alone until it becomes a sort of technical problem? Even then, a chain of e-mails could be sent - and those who respond via thread post in a separate topic marked - "Post here to not be deleted" spared. Then you'd separate the passers-by from the people who expressly choose to be members and simply not post anything (yet), because that choice is their right. Actually, this sort of thing would benefit me - as a much younger Internet prowler, I joined many forums for the hell of it. I wish now that 90% of those memberships were deleted. I can't help but thing some of those people in Nsane's list are in a similar situation.
