dcs18
Were you trying to upgrade from a live environment - instead of rebooting with a BootDVD for a clean re-install?
bwop
It seems like he was installing from DVD, as he said he wiped the HD, but who knows.I'd try updating the BIOS.
STEEL
Had same problem in the past. It,s drive corruption. Take drive to U,r P.C. I.T. pro, let him test the drive. He will run corruption healer software, re-flaten it and then re-install U,r O.S.
northboun
First thing I would do is go to the Mother Boards Manufacturer's website and get the newest BIOS for your board and Flash the BIOS then set Setup Defaults within BIOS or better Clear CMOS. (If you used a On-Board BIOS recovery its certain your BIOS will be out-dated.)
uffbros
I second the motion that he is not booting off the DVD and is trying from within OS. Boot from the DVD.
pepperoni
MariosGr ... have you tried Memtest86+ on that computer. You can download the .iso or auto-installer for USB key here.http://www.memtest.org/#downiso
DesiPirate
 Try memtest 86+
pepperoni
 Try memtest 86+I have seen the ACPI error message that MariosGr is trying to get info on, caused by memory errors. Mismatched memory is another problem that will trigger that error message. Taking the memory chips out, cleaning the contacts and reinstalling is a good place to start. So, yes, Mem86+ is a good program to keep in your toolbox.
