Just wondering..

Hi Guys :hi:

I accidentally requested a "fix" for an application, but I was not aware (because of my own negligence) that such requests are not permitted.

I sincerely apologise - I hate going against forum rules, and feel slightly bad when I do. :wut:

Anyways, I'm just making note of some contradictory statement in the "Community Guidelines".

Members are reminded to respect copyrights. As such, any links or posts containing illegal content are not permitted. This includes and is not limited to cracks, keygens, serials and "licensed" software materials. Members can share such items via the "Sharecode" system. Requests for illegal materials are not permitted. Any content copied from elsewhere should include a source link."

I love nsane.down, but I'm a curious person, and as such would just like to point out that: sharing such material is not permitted, but it is permitted if making use of the sharecode system. A little contradictory.. :) Either way, if it's not permitted, it does not matter how it is shared, because sharing it in the first place is not permitted.

Perhaps we should look at rewording this? Can't quite think how though.

I always see people requesting "medicine" in the "software updates" sub-forum. Is this permitted?

I'm not in any way justifying myself here. So don't read this in the wrong context.

I made a boo-boo and that's that. It clearly states requests are not permitted, so I am wrong there.

Just want to point this out.

 Cheers

"Linking to questionable content might be illegal. Providing a link in that sense might also be illegal.

Providing a sharecode which can be reconstructed back into a link might be another judicial stretch. It's just something of a safety precaution."

@ Casper

It's always useful to get your doubts cleared - breaking a rule, by mistake is completely different from breaking a rule out of malice (or for ulterior motives.)

Tip:

I always suggest developing friendship with like-minded folks and sharing stuff across the PM network. ;)

I think the forum wants protection of it's member and preventing spread of links which might have legal/judicial issues with it as long as we are not caught/involved in making/funding it somehow :)
