Tweety.Abd
Happy birthday, Richard Feynman! Physicist, Nobel Prize winner, all-round eccentric genius & incomparable communicator, Feynman was born May 11, 1918.Richard Feynman was an American theoretical physicist known for his work in the path integral formulation of quantum mechanics, the theory of quantum electrodynamics, and the physics of the superfluidity of supercooled liquid helium, as well as in particle physicsNotable Facts:- Pioneered the field of quantum computing; also known for his work in particle physics, quantum mechanics, and electrodynamics.- Called the "Great Explainer", he became one of the world's best-known scientists through his popular physics books and lectures.- Participated in the creation of the atomic bomb, developing with Hans Bethe a formula for calculating the yield of a fission bomb.- Introduced the concept of nanotechnology in a 1959 lecture.- Held the Richard Chace Tolman professorship in theoretical physics at Caltech.- The Nobel Prize in Physics 1965 along with Sin-Itiro Tomonaga and Julian Schwinger "for their fundamental work in quantum electrodynamics, with deep-ploughing consequences for the physics of elementary particles".
