D0GG
Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on much for a while, but I'm trying hard to keep my scholarship while living the college party life. Anyways my college will disconnect the internet to my room if I get caught on p2p, so I'm gona start downloading in the computer lab in the dorms late at night. What I need is some input on which p2p client to use that doesn't require an install (such as emule and mute). I'm gona have it on my 1 GB USB Jump Drive. So if someone will tell me which one that has alot of people using it , downloads fast, and doesn't require and install. That would be nice. Thanks guys... Thanks guys...there is ways around school networks for p2p to work. you should have newsgroup access since it is a college i would think.if someone has a wireless setup you could piggy his for p2p :dance2:are you near your parent's house? have p2p running at their house. with ip blocking all the time no matter which type and kind of p2p you use.has your school been a attack of riaa or miaa? if so has your school protected you all or just said screw the kids? Samurai
Newsgroups. Only need news client installed, and you're getting full speeds as much as you can take.Or use a "standard" p2p app and hide the installation folder with a program like Magic Folders. Next time you go onto said machine, press the hotkey combo you set it up as, and unlock your hidden folders.
nsane
if you use emule just set it to use some out the ass port and your cool. i can bet money they're just monitoring the default ports of the most common p2p apps (like some ISPs are doing now). so changing it to some random port should keep ya safe :dance2:btw, be a smart ass and ask "so VoIP is banned too?" cause it's based on p2p technology. oh, and be sure to throw the word "nazis" in their somewhere too (calling em "the taliban" works just as good) ;)
Administrator Lite Posted October 8, 2005 Administrator Share Posted October 8, 2005 Typically computer labs will be connected to a central server. Typically upon login a "image" will be restored of the respective installation, as such you can't install anything.Theres ways of blocking P2P traffic via non-standard ports too. If your college is serious the TYPES of traffic will be banned not just the ports. Typically i'm sure they have random checking of user activities too.Reccomendation? Live without p2p. Its not worth getting kicked out of college for.

nsane
yeah, i guess yer right, it's still kinda fucked up. but he could still do what sam suggested, just sign up for newshosting or something. $14 is better than no downloading at all and you get stuff ALOT quicker off NGs any ways :dance2:
