HX1
It depends on how you set yours up.. I have Smart Security so some things are a little different in my options because I have it configured differently.. and to work with the Firewall..It depends on several settings.. mine is actually greyed out.. ( and I use Advanced Hueristics ) but it adds these things automatically as I install.. or change programs.. so on Active Mode though I have them turned off.. because you can really tell it.. however, I still have all traffic scanned... There are settings that start in the first drop down tree... that all apply and settings in Protocol Filtering that can effect all of this area.. some of it will effect the settings before it.. so it depends on what works for your connection.. ESET's settings are like that though.. you have to go through one by one and really think through where you may be overlapping protection.. and getting the best performance out of it while having the same protection.. So it really takes some thought some times..
Administrator DKT27 Posted February 15, 2010 Administrator Share Posted February 15, 2010 I had same problem while I was using ESET SS. I was able to surf the net with no problems when I disabled it. Maybe because I didn't configure it as much as heath28 does. But I totally uninstalled SS, cleaned registry, removed every trace of it, and then I installed ESET AV and all the problems were solved. teodor12
i think i found what is my problem on web acces protection / protocol filtering /redirecting traffic for filtering- if i select http and popup ports my browsers work ok but if i choose ports and applications marked as internet browsers or email clients i cannot browse on netis there any danger /error if , at protocol filtering, i redirect traffic for checking only http and popup ports ? are my browsers and passwords in danger ? HX1
Your Internet browsers won't be and passwords I don't know.. because even at that .. the sites themselves can get hacked..LOL.. If you want to configure it the other way you may want to double check that they are included/excluded on the Web Browsers section..and go over the settings again.. slowly.. sometimes there can be one thing in the wording you miss ( or at least I have ) and even simple settings in your Network configuration.... Something else may be going on there but I am not getting it right now.. If I think of something else I will post it.. should be fine though.. According to you guys how should I do to get the best efficiency of this wonderfull AV? :)Nope, it's just personal preference. Efficiency is defined as the ability to reach certain goals, these goals are set by...... you :D I think the standard settings do just fine, maybe some tweaking when it comes down to giving you the ability to select what to do or automatically react (I like to select what to do, rather than have it select for me). littlesausage
I have a question - does the x64 fix work for x32 program? I have XP installed and after downloading the 32x for ESET NOD32 I tried using the mara-box fix. But it doesn't seem to detect the program. Is there a mara-box x32 fix?I reinstalled the program because it was being buggy. But now I seem to have a problem"Could Not write value (DataDir) (Edition Name) AppDataDir to key \Software\ESET\ESET Security\Current Version\Info. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel"and a whole bunch of other errors. What should I do to try and fix it. shought
Run the box, mara-fix again and see if you can UnFix, because apparently the fix did work (that registry 'directory' gets modified in the process). The fix is supposed to work for x32 and x64. Bhaak
i have downloaded eset smart security 4.0.474 and i have applied marabox 1.3 i have win 7 32bit everything works without the firewall with Internet explorer. At the moment i'm connected with a wireless and everything works if i disable the firewall. I set interactive mode and hided my shared documents/folder/eccecc and allowed to internet exolorer to comunicate with in/out connections. Only internet explorer doesn't work with the firewall enabled(for example i can ping google) it has no sense because i tried to delete all firewall rules and after (with interactive mode) i allowed every in/out connections. I checked all the firewall option but i don't find the problem... maybe due to marafix? or tell me where is the problem...

HX1
Another solution depending on your connection and DNS activity.. If you want HTTP/S checking.. would be to go to IDS Options, and see which one is cutting your connection.. I currently have the web access protection in place.. and use it with IE8 and all four of my browsers.. and many other applications I have in this area.. ( basically everything that hit the Internet ).. The problem I had with it on first install were two selections in IDS which caused ESET to register an attack and cut my connection after a few minutes, maybe even loading one page in my browser.. just seemed insane..LOL but finally through trial and error I found the two responsible and cut only those two off.. I had to turn them all off, and use them one by one.. until I replicated the problem... I think mine were ARP and DNS poisoning.. which is handled by OpenDNS anyway... some sort of loop back I think.. using all of the advanced settings with OpenDNS I was using some experimental Beta features from them as well.. such as their new caching feature ( actually two years old ) and several others in place.. Caused some rather odd issues..
