Hey mara-, my trial days just dropped to 30 days 8)

---------------------------------

Mine shows 31 days . But I am rebooting computer 50x day...

................................................................................

....................................

Anyone got automatic updates with fixes done ? Thanks for replying .

@ mara & jofre,

After running genuine 30days Trial Version of ESSv4 for 16days, yesterday I installed mara-fix_1.5 - following all the instructions on the front-page to the letter. I had no previous Eset fixes of any kind on the system nor any previous versions of Eset software ( I use to have ZASS).

Installation was without any problems & self-defense was automatically re-enabled after re-boot.

Remaining trial period: 15 days became 31days icon6.gif

Automatic update: non-available (yesterday) after installing the fix

" " : had to do manual update today - after 3 or 4 attempts

Latest status: @ approx 1900hrs

Virus signature database: 3955 (20090323)

Update module: 1028 (20090302)

Antivirus and antispyware scanner module: 1199 (20090321)

Advanced heuristics module: 1092 (20090309)

Antispam module: 1011 (20090114)

System status module: 1210 (20090306)

Self-defense support module : 1005 (20081105)

Will wait & see if automatic update happens tomorrow.

One question: Is there any difference between Trial Version & Full Version icon14.gif

Also, on the GUI is there any way to get rid of the links to "Purchase Full Version" & "Upgrade to Full Version"

However, thanks very much toking.gif mara for your pirate2.gif

Will let you know about the auto-update tomorrow.

Self-Defense: On

Trial Period remaining: 30days

Automatic update: updated @ 0915hrs (at Boot) & again 1625hrs (at Re-Boot). icon1.gif

However, somehow I feel that scheduled hourly updates do not happen actually happen, the latest virus sig 3957 @ Eset was @1145hrs yet my puter only updated @1625hrs on re-boot all though the puter has been on all day today since 0915 hrs.

My update settings are:

Update Server: Choose automatically - [No servers listed in the Edit Section]

HTTP Proxy: Use Global Proxy server Setting

Anyone have thoughts on this. pleaseicon14.gif

They do work, it's just that the ESET servers are still under heavy load.

It's got two causes actually:

Number one is that it takes some time before the new virus signature database files are spread over all ESET's update servers. (However after one hour all servers should have the files, for sure, so that doesn't solve our problem yet). Because the update server only checks one server and not all of them it's very likely that you've got AT LEAST an hour waiting time.

Number two is that if you check this page you can see that all servers are under heavy load. I figured that if you connect to a server that's got >99% load at the time of connecting it will refuse to send you the updates. Because your updates are only scheduled hourly this might take up to an infinite amount of tries before you actually get the update(but in most, probably all, cases it will only take a maximum of 10 hours before the updates reach your PC(experience based assumption).

@box

Read my post a few posts back, it's got quite some information/requests :P

One more thing: your fix does initially reset the trial or not?

Thanks for your response.

this page - That is a lot of servers & obviously under heavy load.

Do you think there is a way of overcoming the delay in updating icon14.gif will it help if I include all these servers in the "Update Server" listicon14.gif Is there a way of making Eset go through the whole Server list till it finds one that is free to update or does it do this automatically anyway icon14.gif

I'm off to soccer practice now, I'll think about it whilst not trying to break any legs ;)

Nothing that comes to mind as if now, I'm sure we could create some kind of application that would ensure this, but I doubt if it's worth it.

Even on 3 months old definitions ESET owns, it's heuristics own...

ESET4 Box4EVER 4.20A :P

See my signature on how to download.

This crack is for ESET Smart Security 4 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4. It works with version 3 also. It completely stops the trial period from ever counting down. ESET will stay at 31 days always without ever restarting your computer. You will have FULL "Self-defense" always. It was tested using version 4.0.314 on WinXP (x86/x64) & Vista (x86/x64).

Installation:

1. Install ESET. (If already installed, then skip to step 2.)

2. Execute the crack and follow the simple on screen instructions to [Lock / Unlock].

3. To uninstall, just delete the file. Make sure that you unlock ESET before deleting the file.

NOTE 1: To Disable (or Enable) the Self-defense, open ESET, press keyboard <F5>, select <Antivirus and antispyware>, UNCHECK (or CHECK) the <Enable Self-defense>, <OK>, and <OK>.

NOTE 2: The current virus signature version will not be displayed in the tray icon. It will display again only after you have unlock ESET and restart the computer. Open ESET to see the current signature version. To restore ESET version in the tray icon, just Unlock ESET and RESTART PC.

NOTE 3: Problem updating ESET has nothing to do with this program.

Features:

Nothing is installed on the PC.

It is not a service start up or a scheduled trial reset. It STOPs ESET from counting down with 100% Self-defense (first to crack).

No need to restart the PC to reset ESET trial period. (Always 31 days.)

No more error message when configurating ESET when LOCKED.

Convert retail to trial automatically and each time you run the program.

Insert the eval servers by ESET automatically.

Add and Update the eval servers in the drop-down list (trial only/ retail version will work only after you have convert it to Trial, update, and run Box4EVER again.)

One file does it all for both x86 & x64.

Tested on XP (x86 & x64) and Vista (x86 & x64).

What it doesn't do?

Fix ESET eval servers so you can update timely and properly.

Convert the trial to retail by inserting a valid U/P.

@box

Does this version require .Net Framework 3.5 or have you phased out that requirement?

For the record, it is possible to do what was requested on the last page to make Mara's fix not be detected when downloading it. All you have to do is make an encrypted, password protected rar instead of a straight-up zip/rar. It's easy to do.

Take note it would still be detected once extracted, of course.

GOOD NEWS !

Like @Mo Husen already said I got my 1st automatic update using =ESS 4.0.314= and =mara-Fix 1.5= which means this Fix works completely.

Those who still were in doubt about which one should choose, may start to install Mara_Fix 1.5.

CONGRATULATIONS, @MARA :P ! EXCELLENT WORK !

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Time to start a party now !

 .... :P ...... :lmao: ...... ..... :lmao: .... :P

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because today I also installed = Eset4Box4Ever (v.4.20) = probably only tomorrow we can have a new winner here, if this one also can auto-update.

And why not just disable firewall and anti-virus for a while ??

@box

I have just installed your Box4EVER v4.20A fix on ESS v4.0.314.0 / WinXP Pro SP3 32-bit.

Install of your fix happened smoothly, though I must 2nd shought's constructive ideas on modifying your install interface to make it more understandable and user friendly :welcome:

I had no sooner installed your fix and before I had even rebooted the puter ESS automatically updated the sigs to 3958 (20090324) I did NOT have to click on the Update button!!

Is an immediate update something you have purposefully engineered? If so, nice work! :P

I have enabled Self-Defence and it is working correctly.

I only have one update server http//update.eset.com/eset_eval in the drop-down list, is this correct?

My test puter will be powered up 24/7 so I will report back on the status of the remaining trial days?

Thanks for your hard work box!

Cheers!

@mara-

Great work with your fix :welcome: but there is one thing I don't understand. You delay the load of ESET system driver ehdrv.sys BUT your service .EsetTrialReset is still loaded AFTER ehdrv.sys ! What's the difference ?

NOTE : I used the LoadOrder program from Microsoft to check this out.

NOTE 2 : Maybe the LoadOrder program is wrong. Isn't the group name ignored when the driver/service has a start value of 2 (automatic) ?

Thanks

Brian, Denmark

Any suggestion is welcome. Just remember that this doesn't install any thing. It just changes the settings in the registry.

Actually, I tried, especially if it is a retail. When you run box4ever on a retail, it changes the settings and forces ESET to immediately update. IF eval servers are ok, then the update is a GO!

"I only have one update server http//update.eset.com/eset_eval in the drop-down list, is this correct?"

If you only have one eval server in the list, then I am assuming that you did in fact have a retail version of ESET. If after you have update ESET, or make an attempt, and you run box4ever again or subsequently and RESTART the pc, then you will see all eval servers added to the drop-down list. And each time you run box4ever again, the eval servers in the drop-down list will get updated. Box4ever will only update the drop-down list for you if SD is disabled and not active. This is because the fix needs access to the registry.

@Shought

"This fix no longer causes the error when saving setup, does it?"

No more error when saving setup.

"box, you should make the first popup more descriptive wink.gif Now it says 'NORMAL', but some people might misunderstand and all. Also it should say Install, Uninstall and Exit rather than Yes and No."

The box4ever doesn't install any thing. It just make changes in the registry.

To use box4ever:

- Install ESET.

- Run box4ever. If box4ever determines that it is necessary to disable the SD, then it will prompt you to do so. When in doubt, run the program. (I have been making all my fix to prompt users if it needs help.

- Enable Self-defense and Reboot.

"If Self-defense has to be disabled before installing the fix I think the first popup should state that(just like with the mara-fix). The mara-fix automatically enables Self-defense after installing(you still have to reboot though), it might be a good idea to incorporate this into your fix as well."

For SD to work properly, you need to manually do it using ESET. Just making a change in the registry will mess up SD. Also, if box4ever determines that it is necessary to disable the SD, then it will prompt you to do so. Try unlocking ESET (make sure that SD is enabled), RESTART PC, and run box4ever again.

@box

It may sound like we are being pedantic but though your .EXE does not install any files it does install your fix, or would you prefer the term applies your fix? It just needs clearly wording to accurately describe what the fix is going to do to a users system :welcome:

So on that basis, how about this wording for the screen that appear when applying your fix...

The ESET Trial Period is currently: [Unaltered/Unlocked]

Apply: Initiate automatic updates and extend your trial indefinitely.

Undo: Undo any changes made by this fix.

Cancel: Exit without making any changes.

[Apply] [undo] [Cancel]

Then when the fix is run a second time the top line could read...

The ESET Trial Period is currently: [Fixed/Locked]

Once executed there should definitely be a way of cancelling the fix without it making any changes to the target system.

How does that sound?

How long have you had a system running with your current fix without a restart?

Cheers! :P

if you could make those few changes to the UI(to make it more understandable), then I'll put it up the frontpage ASAP :welcome:

@box: "It just changes the settings in the registry"

Basically, it just modifies and locks the registry once (when you run Box4ever to apply it), right?. So an application to reset the trial period is not needed since the trial period is already fixed.

If that's correct, your fix is the most "efficient" :welcome:

Hello Riony,

If you are using Box4EVER v4.20A, then that is correct. However, the virus signature / scanner version in the tray icon doesn't display the current version. If you don't really care, than you are done. But I would just keep it, so when the scanner version is updated, I would just unfixed ESET (disable SD), RESTART pc, lock ESET and enable SD again to get the version updated in the tray icon.

Hi,ALL ! :towel:

Mine is WinXP Pro SP3 (32 bits)

Testing ESS 4.0.314 and Eset4Box4Ever (v.4.20A) - sense yesterday.

Time to start another party here !!! - Got an automatic update when starting Net for the 1st time today, 10 minutes ago.

Self-Defense ON (Trial Locked, showing 31 days left to expire trial version).

EXCELLENT WORK, BOX !

It doesn`t matter to me if I can`t see the message saying " Version of virus signature database " in task-bar if it was done this way to fix 31 days. One click on Eset icon / Open window and all info is shown. If you keep your computer running day and night for several days, this is the crack you need, because time 31 days left, never counts down.

So, another Winner here!

Automatic updates that`s all I need.

Many Thanks, Box ! For me it`s perfect !

Time for commemorations now !

... ... :eekout: ... ... :win: ... :king: ... :chug: ... :fun: ... :dance2: ...

@box (re. Eset4Box4Ever v.4.20A)

Although it is handy to have a description referring to your fix in the version box from the system tray, to make your fix noob-proof I do feel as you can write what you like there it would make so much sense to also tell people where to find the sigs version info? After all the whole point of that popup is sigs info, so to have the sigs info box not say something about sigs info is a little odd?

So how about...

LOCKED / Open ESET window for Sigs Info

I have purposely dropped the word Trial because many users like to see this description vanish so it appears more like the full product :win: What do you think?

The trial days still continue to count down in a delayed manner on my main pc (I have mara-fix 1.5 on there) more than 24hours have past since I took note of what trial days were remaining and it still hasn't dropped another day?! This was one of the puters that stayed on 30/31 for four days before deciding to drop below 30days? Too make matters worse the half 'n' half ru-board fix on another machine held steady for the same period on 30days before starting to count down :king:. With this sort of erratic counting down it will make it tricky for a time to know if the new box fix is actually holding the trial days or not?

I have found when the trial days do start to decline it has happened independently of a successful sigs update!

Am I correct in thinking there should not be any module updates when in trial mode? Could someone please list the DEFAULT module version for 4.0.314? this way I can compare to what I have now :eekout:

How long have you had a pc powered up with your new fix @box?

I hope we have many users with your fix out there with puters humming 24/7 to give a fuller picture of how your new fix is shaping-up?

If it manages to hold the days then it does make itself a very worthy addition to the available fix list by offering a distinctly different approach to fixing the trial. That could make it easier for users to decide which fix they would like on their puter? :fun:

I feel like I am at the Ambassador's party!... With all these new fixes you are spoiling us! :chug: LOL

@Hoca,

You have many excellent suggestions and I'm in the process of writing a code but I can not get the status to show without just using a pop up message box telling you the status.

I use my vPC to test all of my fixes. So I have no problem advancing the date 10 / 20 years. Ex: What I do is shut it down, and restart it 25 / 45 / 60 / 90 days ahead to see if ESET the date changes. I also advance the date forward when the vPC is on. In the Box fix, I also set ESET to get the update for the modules. To actually get it is another matter.
