ESET v4 Fixes

shought

Recommended Posts

just had a fresh vista install and downloaded nod32 trial. Haven't used the fix yet and already getting the user name password popup when trying to update manually. Getting this crap when using the official trial is ridiculous.

Will installing the fix remove this annoyance? Server is setup as choose automatically. Couldn't even manually pick a server as it is now since there are no servers to pick from. I know they can be found in a registry or something but yea...

For anyone who has installed ESET Smart Security with the firewall, can you disable the firewall completely within ESET, meaning it will use resources just like having the anti-virus alone? I seldom have use for an internal firewall but occasionally I need one to block programs from connecting to the internet, but I don't want to install it if it stays loaded all the time and can't be disabled.

You could just install Comodo Firewall or Internet Security (as I think it is now called) and set it to not automatically load with Windows. Then you can start it up only when you need it. Works (coexists) very well with EAV, btw. Although, personally, I think it is a very good idea to run with a software firewall on at all times, specially for keeping various programs from phoning home.

But if it locks ESET out of the registry, why does the trial still need to be reset?

And I think you can suppress that message if you only change the permission of the key that contains the trial date, or would that be impossible?

Is there an option to have full or partial Self-defense functionality?

I'm working on a description of your and mara-'s fix, so I need to know all information that's available(either by PM or posting in here, whichever you prefer).

My bad. (Edited: The Box4EVER will let you know what it needs and when it needs it. The Self-defense just need to be DISABLED if box4EVER needs to get access to the registry and ESET has locked Box4EVER from getting at it.) When pc restarted, ESET trial date will reset to 31 days. You can lock, unlock, lock, and unlock with Self defense [ENGAGED] if ESET has not updated itself when Box4EVER is unlocked. It may be confusing but Box4EVER will tell you if you need to [ENABLE/DISABLE] SD to implement the trial lock.

Let me experiment with the error message.

(Added: Nope! It didn't work. I have tried it before with 3 and it did worked then also.

With the Box4ever, SD is all up to you. I recommend that you [enabled] it all the time.

I will work on the description and post it.

Box4ever does not work on eset 4 x64. it updates then asks for username and pass..any solution?

thanks

Username / password is ESET. I think that ESET set a certain eval servers to ask for U/P. How about not using any fix and see if it ask for U/P? I have tried it and it does.

@Hoca

"I'm currently liking the mara fix smile.gif It is easy to install and you do not need to have .NET Framework on your puter to install it."

You need to try Box Eset4_Trial Reset_2.01A. It doesn't require .NET Framework.

"The only modification I would like to see applied to the ru-board part of the fix is rather than the word latest being used to describe the sigs version, it would make more sense to say "Open ESS Window for Sigs Version" wink.gif (providing the popup has room for a description of that length?)"

I really need a good suggestion.

"The ru registry trick differs from the one used by box and whilst preventing the current sigs value to be shown from the system tray icon it does NOT create any errors to be shown when adjusting ESS settings after the fix has been applied! wink.gif"

I will test it some more. I am unable to fine tune it at the moment.

"DOH!!! :P sad.gif

Literally as I am typing this the machine with the ru-board fix has just dropped to 29days!! sad.gif I am sure I spotted a fading update flag from ESS, but I know it already had the latest sigs so could not have been updating them! So looks like both my attempts to hold the trial days have failed, but how/why have they remained static for so long? :P"

The official trial from eset also ask for u/p upon updating.

I only experience this in X64 version of ESET.

Yeah, me too. But I used trial key which I got from Eset to do conversion to trial and after that I removed username and password and I got next update automatically without it.

Cheers :P

@box

Thanks for the info :P

I have not yet tried your latest fix, as has been said already there has been so many new fixes of late it has been difficult to keep up!

I have been concentrating on monitoring how the trial clocks down on puters protected with SD that have not been restarted, and have been frankly confused at my findings as the trials have not been reducing in a predicatable way?

Whilst my machines have been tied up with these experiments I have been unable to try any new fixes but I will try your latest as soon as I am through though :P

Have you spotted any peculiarities on how the trial days have been reducing on your machines?

Do you think there is any point continuing with placing Deny settings in the registry? Have you had any success yourself at preventing the trial counting down whilst protected with SD with no restart?

Cheers

Am going to give this a try. by inputting a trail key, and then update and then remove, and see if it works. Hopefully this will work after trail key expiration as well, with your mara-fix 1.5 fix

Thanks

When Using mara fix, do I need to register at eset site for a trial username/pw? Can I just use mara fix without the username/pw?

ESET4 Box4EVER 4.20A :P

See my signature on how to download.

This crack is for ESET Smart Security 4 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4. It works with version 3 also. It completely stops the trial period from ever counting down. ESET will stay at 31 days always without ever restarting your computer. You will have FULL "Self-defense" always. It was tested using version 4.0.314 on WinXP (x86/x64) & Vista (x86/x64).

Installation:

1. Install ESET. (If already installed, then skip to step 2.)

2. Execute the crack and follow the simple on screen instructions to [Lock / Unlock].

3. To uninstall, just delete the file. Make sure that you unlock ESET before deleting the file.

NOTE 1: To Disable (or Enable) the Self-defense, open ESET, press keyboard <F5>, select <Antivirus and antispyware>, UNCHECK (or CHECK) the <Enable Self-defense>, <OK>, and <OK>.

NOTE 2: The current virus signature version will not be displayed in the tray icon. It will display again only after you have unlock ESET and restart the computer. Open ESET to see the current signature version. To restore ESET version in the tray icon, just Unlock ESET and RESTART PC.

NOTE 3: Problem updating ESET has nothing to do with this program.

Features:

Nothing is installed on the PC.

It is not a service start up or a scheduled trial reset. It STOPs ESET from counting down with 100% Self-defense (first to crack).

No need to restart the PC to reset ESET trial period. (Always 31 days.)

No more error message when configurating ESET when LOCKED.

Convert retail to trial automatically and each time you run the program.

Insert the eval servers by ESET automatically.

Add and Update the eval servers in the drop-down list (trial only/ retail version will work only after you have convert it to Trial, update, and run Box4EVER again.)

One file does it all for both x86 & x64.

Tested on XP (x86 & x64) and Vista (x86 & x64).

What it doesn't do?

Fix ESET eval servers so you can update timely and properly.

Convert the trial to retail by inserting a valid U/P.

I think that trial clocks counts down after a successful update and when ESET check itself.

I would go for the one just posted on this page (page 35), ESET4 Box4EVER 4.20A - does just about everything you could want from a trial fix 8)

@box

GREAT WORK!

Sorry for full capital :D

This fix no longer causes the error when saving setup, does it?

box, you should make the first popup more descriptive :P Now it says 'NORMAL', but some people might misunderstand and all. Also it should say Install, Uninstall and Exit rather than Yes and No 8) Remember, I'm not criticizing, I'm just trying to give you some feedback ;)

The reason why I ask you to create uninstall/install button is because the way it is now could cause some confusion.

Could you please describe to me exactly the actions that are to be taken?

- Install ESET

- Disable Self-defense?

- Reboot?

- Install the fix

- Enable Self-defense?

- Reboot?

If Self-defense has to be disabled before installing the fix I think the first popup should state that(just like with the mara-fix). The mara-fix automatically enables Self-defense after installing(you still have to reboot though), it might be a good idea to incorporate this into your fix as well.

Also I've spoken to mara- about you two creating 'one' fix. He said that he could create a launcher, this launcher would show your fix and mara-'s fix, both with a description of how it works and exactly what it will do. This way users only have to download one file and they don't get confused by two different fixes that are listed. This is just a thought though, nothing is worked out.

@mara-

Is it possible to not make your fix getting detected as a virus? Or to somehow encode it in a way that it's 'hidden' from being detected(like if I encrypt your fix in a password protected .rar archive then ESET won't detect it, I thought a similar method could be applied?).

Ok, that's it for now :P

Just installed" ESS 4.0.314 " and latest "Box4Ever-v.4.20A". None error found during installation. Got 1st.manual update.

Self-Defense Enabled. Just hope it updates automatically...

I only know to work with AutoIt and I think what you are asking is not possible, but I'll investigate.
