ESET v4 Fixes

Sry.. New ver 1.01.. a bug in the first one

:P :sorry:

question. is there any difference between updating over nodlogin or ETR trial? I mean, is there a module update on trials or only on retail?

Module updates are only automatic on retail. Also I believe retail gets priority when the servers are having problems, although even retail has problems sometimes.

Does this mean that module updates can be manually updated? By finding a module update and placing it in a folder and telling NOD32 to update from that folder? Explain please.

Also a separate question: If I install Smart Security but turn off the anti-spam and firewall modules, will it use the same amount of resources, excluding HDD space of course, as just installing the Anti-Virus edition alone?

I don't know anything about smart security because I've never used it.

But as far as I know, unless you are using a retail version (as opposed to trial), the only way to get module updates is to install a newer version of Eset SS or AV. But if I'm wrong about that, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I'm upgrading from v3 Antivirus to v4 Smart Security and have two questions:

1) I should uninstall v3 first, right?

2) Which fix should I use if I go between Marsufix 2.5 or Marsufix 1.3? Thanks.

For your question:

1) Always better to uninstall older version and clean it up too.

2) As of today, if you want a trial fix..... I had try Marafix 1.3 and it is very good.

Hmmm, I remember the trial do have module updates but that was in Nod32 v3.

Maybe the trial is just slower to get the module updates, but gets them eventually. I'm really not sure anymore cause I was using Nodlogin (i.e., retail) for quite a while and always got the module updates quite promptly as they came through the normal update process. But I seem to remember not getting them so often when I was using a trial fix.

Yes, I am using Nodlogin and NodEnabler too. Just that sometime I do test the trial fix on another computer. Can't be fully sure about module update.

Cheers :P

just installed mara fix 1.3. tried manually updating several times but it wont let me say virus databse up to date. it shows 2009/02/06 is this because of the overloaded servers or did i do something wrong ?

edit : oops my bad just read the read me seems to be normal for this to happen then...

Yeah, it's normal, but only for the first update. This is because your first update is very big and the others that will follow are relatively small.

You'll receive it within the next day or so.

You have to select 'Set update parameters later' at setup, did you both do that? If not please uninstall the fix, uninstall ESET and reinstall both.

Sub0Freeze, where have you been all this time ?

You have to read previous comments.Take 2 hours of spare time.

Also a visit to the Frontpage can be useful.

There is no Marsu.Fix 1.3 - mara.fix 1.3 is the name !

Marsu.fix 2.5 is passed. Now is 2.6.

...and of course you have to uninstall ESET3 if you wish to install ESET 4.

cheers

Jofre

thanks for the tips!

yeah it was related to the "bad" servers i put in Nod. Using only the ones with /eset_eval made it work with no problems.

New version of my fix is here, v1.4.

Changes:

- Removed old Eset servers (I forgot to remove old servers, installing new version of the fix is recommended but not required)
- Solved problem with two reboots on Vista when this fix offers you to enable Self-Defense and user clicked 'Yes' (only once reboot is required now)
- Added Self-Defense check on every reboot (on every reboot it will be checked if self-defense is enabled, if yes entry in scheduler will be deactivated since it can not work with self-defense enabled, and if self-defense is disabled this entry will be automatically activated, thanks to shought for nice idea.)

This should be last version of my fix, except if Eset changes something with new version or if shought gives me some new ideas. :D

Download:

Follow link in my signature

Sorry shought for so many updates, you'll need to update the frontpage again :coolwink:

Cheers ;)

You shouldn't have to disable Self-defense for NodLogin 9.9b to work...

mara-fix 1.4 can now be found in our ESET listings ;)

I know... Thats why i am asking ;)

If i delete the key and restart, ESS says license no more working... Then i press on the icon of Nodlogin it says license instered... I look again and there is still no key. When i disable selfdefense and restart, start Nodlogin, it says again inserted license and i see there is a new license that is working :|

Anyone has the same problem?? Maybe Eset Smart Security got again a new update that blocks the key inserting. A few days ago ESS said.. updated programm components.

No i dont like things like Trail Resets... Eset has problems with this trail versions and updates.. The full version works really good...

I'm having trouble downloading the mara fix and nodlogin files. When I try to download either one, I get a certain proxy.php file instead of the RAR. I've been through the 20 min wait cycle a few times now and i'm still getting the same proxy.php file. Any help?

I tried all the workarounds in the article you linked to but I'm still getting that same message. I'm on Firefox and usind nod32 v4... no other firewalls/antivirus at all. I tried adding the proxy address to the exclusions list and it still doesnt work. Could you please upload the mara-fix 1.4 file elsewhere? I need it badly..
