this is the one i gotten for my oldest kid earlier. fianlly worked on it. installing the software for my favorite site. test the speakers and wtf!. no sound. after googling it seems a lot of people had to reinstall the RealTek drivers. problem solved. had went online to their live chat. i swear its a bot. had to reg the computer for a second time. that took 22 minutes chating with the so called person. after 44 minutes it said to reisntall the drivers. what a nightmare. can you image al the newbies that buy gateway computers and have no sound? they dont know what the heck to do. this shouldnt happen. every computer should be tested before hand.

still havent ordered that monitor yet. will have too this week.

PCI e version 2 slot with GeForce GT120 with 1 GB DDR2 on it. that rename GeForce 9500

(this is an easy one to upgrade for years to come) will have to put a fan on the side if i upgrade the GC later. have to check the power system though)

one problem i notice with the computer is the top digital media manager that pops open on top is a pain in the azz to open and close. its not closing anymore. i think i broke the locking part trying to get it open. piss poor design. no doubt that happens a lot. front multimedia panel seems to open and close okay.

installed 2 seagate 1.5 TB in the easy to remove slot bays on the front of the computer. they lucky came with firmware CC1H. supposely they will not have problems like other ones. will have to install games on one later to test that.

what i uninstalled. Norton 360. will have to add ask .com to it. not sure if it was there or the daemon tool still installing it even when unclicked

what i installed from the front page stuff dated 28 feb 09

daemon tools, UD 2008, S & E Suite by DNM (one of the fixest i had to download from frontpage because it had to be actually ran in the install software folder to work. jackal fix from the suite work unlike the download from the front page) este suite v3 using the reg key fix (should easly be able to undo that if i really need to, but i dont see a reason to when the newer fit/patches come out for it.. foxit reader, k-lite mega codec, quick par, spybot s & d (just use to it), superantispyware, TuneUp U 2009, unlocker, and of course the required winrar to make everything work. got everything to not auto start except unlicker and spybot. ran the update asking to get the este firewall to allow rules. dont know if i will install AL 120 yet. i know i have a versin that will work on vista 64. but dont know if it will work with guess accounts though. still fgot the UAC turn on sinces im not installing newsleecher on his computer.

will test tonight to see if i can install a few games on the seagate hds and virtual mount them using S & E suite.

anyone have certain games that i should test just give a buzz here or pm.

the blue ray anime from NG runs without skips. i tried the anime Freedom. piss i cant get 1-5 dizx ver of it. giganews doesnt go back that far.

if everything works out okay and the monitor too i will get another for the little one.

any people of thoughts about what i should install also buzz here or pm. dang its been 5 years now here.how things have changed.

Hey dude,

I pointed my mother to tigerdirect so she can buy an inexpensive computers for the family. She went for a Gateway Desktop. The thing was a damn nightmare... HD blew, poorly design case, powersupply blew too, dvd player fucked..., not the raight drivers, bloatware that took half a day to get rid of after googling and registry hunting. Of course not all those problem occur at once... one thing broke, you send it back, no comp for 3 weeks and when it come back something else fuck... I had to show up quite often to fix things up. After a year, a year and a half we throw the thing away and buy a new one at a local store where its easier to rant at people if it fucks. It was cheap... true but the time we spent on that thing doesnt worth it. Hope for you its not a pipebomb that you bring to your house... I would wait to see if it stand the test of time before buying another one... i mean long time.... I mean like forever...I MEAN IT!
