transparent

If you get Access Denied in WinXP Pro you may have to “take ownership” of the file/folder before it can be accessed. First of all go to Folder Options, View Tab and in the Advanced Settings at the end, untick “Use simple file sharing”, which will allow the Security tab to be shown in the file’s properties. Also, in Folder options, make sure hidden and system files can be viewed if the file/folder you want doesn‘t appear.

To take ownership of the file (it’s best done at the folder level), right-click it, Properties, Security Tab, add your user name, fill in all the permissions and Apply. You can now access it.

Or you can try this

nope....all you had to do was to remove the folders.

Now that you have disabled system restore folders won't appear

you're safe

By the time i wrote this message my EAV updated :)

Thanks Marik :) ... Btw, I had it on 3901 for quite some time already. And I guess this is when my BSOD trips started.

Well some of us didn't receive the update, because of the massive overflow of downloads the ESET website got.

I guess that now that it has decreased somewhat, updates will start coming in :)

I almost forgot, could you please check out my HJT log then ? :) I posted the link on the previous page.

Nothing to fear about, you're perfectly fine

Do you have both COMODO and Outpost on your system?

Nope. Used to have COMODO, but turned to Outpost (more convenient, lol :D) ... Guess there are same traces left of COMODO then.

Ok Marik, thanks a lot  I appreciate it.

Thanks :)

I'm wondering if the new update (3902) will fix this bug they currently have ? I don't want to lose my trial key by doing a clean install.

even if you lose it

just visit nod321 a.k.a the serial provider and use a key from there

nodlogin's key database contains only 7 keys atm, and they're all expired.

so people saying that even though they use nodlogin ESS/EAV still asks for a password, remember that the keys that are in the database atm are expired.

Geez, I'm having the same problem as manpe. I constantly get blue screens (Vista Ultimate). I also did what Marik has posted above but I still get them. I give up! I'll just wait like Bizarre.

It installed fine and updated but after a restart, blue screens were triggered. Right now, it's uninstalled and gone (everything). I'll just leave myself unprotected for now.

Yeah, ESET has pretty much screwed this release up sadly :)

But try to follow the instructions dor linked to - link

Thanks manpe! Do you think installing in safe mode would help? I really don't mind waiting. I'm just fed up with the blue screens. I must have let it happen 10+ times! I've done all that except installing through safe mode. Also for some reason, when all the havoc was wreaking, I went into safe mode to delete ESET but I couldn't use windows uninstaller.

It's worth a shot I believe.

10+ times ? That's nutcracking :) I've had only 3 so far, not expecting any more after disabling system restore and hopefully after a new update. If it does happen, well... then I'll turn to Avast temporarily.

LOL I probably over-exaggerated there. So I just went to try it, but like I've said before, I can't access windows installer to install or uninstall things in safe mode. Weird.

Does the Version 4 changelog depict significant changes in framework and operation ?

If not, It would be prudent to wait for their next release in the same series with lessened bugs;

Can anyone share ,

How does this versions memory consumption compare with Version 3

1.While Idle

2.while a system scan

Thanks Marik for the Update

I followed the first instructions and everything seems to be fine now. Updated to 3902, haven't had any BSODs and it loaded its modules successfully.

I figured out how to enable windows installer in safe mode. Tried installing, but the install progress had to end prematurely. No reasons why. Probably something wrong with the puter, although it's been stable for as long as I can remember.

I am guessing that we should wait until the next release?... or is this SUPER stable lol did their firewall improved by any chance?.

As far as the threads seem to indicate, the only people with issues are those who have system restore enabled. I could be wrong but that's what I gathered. I will have to hope this is the case else I would cry if my pc screws up and I have to waste time fixing it.

Any links to the business edition?
