to which download link are you referring to?

Both the x32 and x64 installer download links work.

Anyone got daily update keys working? Mine says "virus signature database is current" even if the latest signature shows 20090206

Already trying it for the last 45 minutes, even on other links, all keys are valid for downloading the software but for some extrange reasons they are not able to update the virus database (stuck in 20090206), any ideas Marik?

Then that would only mean their update server is down.

Heck, the site crashes every few minutes. Give it until tomorrow, by then all things will be settled.

I'm at 3823 (20090203). Nodlogin used to get a key...

Edit:

Zer0DEV just reported this:

There is some problem with v4.0.314.0, with the trial and the retail builds!

Retail setup is dated on 6th february (definitions also) and the definitions don't update (tested on 2 different machines; WinXP & WinVista).

Trial setup is dated on 26th february (definitions also) and the definitions don't update (tested on the same machines).

I don't think that they re-configure the updateservers, because v3 updates normally!

A mystery too, is the fact that the Release Candidates are dated on 13th february. So the final version is longer available as the release candidates?! ...

I installed the retail version over my 3.0.684 version so maybe that is why my virus definitions are current...

Could anybody explain me what are those things ? They don't come often, but they popped out at random times when I wasn't doing anything special. The last time NOD warned me about those was today (as seen by the date), and a few minutes after that I got a BSOD. Then later I got a BSOD again. Hasn't happened since.

The BSOD happened again and now NOD32 says: "Virus scanner initialization failed. Most of NOD32 Antivirus modules will not function properly."

What the f* is going on ?

Earlier today I did a scan with NOD on C: and it found nothing. Later I did a CHKDSK on C: and it also didn't find any errors.

I'm out of the loop.

When did this first start to happen?

After you installed Eset v4, or did you encounter this problem in the past?

I got those random virus alerts earlier on v3 also... but the random restarts started today (has happened 3 times so far). I remember that one time Outpost Firewall couldn't load its modules either today.

Any ideas what are those things figuring on the picture? I see they're somewhere in system restore, so does that mean they can restore themselves at random times? But I have no idea what could be triggering them (computer scans have shown me clean, except for nodlogin which is detected by malwarebytes').

Sweet, will wait for a week or so until I'm sure I will have no hassle with updates like I see some of you guys are having. ;)

Try disabling system restore and then re-enabling it, this will remove all system restore points, but system restore sucks anyway, in my opinion.

Also try disabling ALL processes at startup except for Windows services and ESET ;)

OK, I think I see what's wrong here. You said the word System Restore and that says everything I wanted to know.

Here is what to do to get rid of the pain.

1. Press the start button (on your keyboard lol) and press the pause/break button (basically its start + pause/break)

2. Select the system restore tab, and disable system restore (yes....do it....NOW!)

3. Open up my computer and go to Tools → Folder Options → View and untick "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" (when prompted also click YES, let's screw with Microsoft's feelings!), also tick the "Show Hidden Files And Folders"

4. Go into C:\, and look for a folder called "System Volume Information" A.K.A Pain in the Ass

5. Now this is where system restore likes to keep all its restore points (yes even those with trojans in them).....

6. Start deleting, and if your that worried that you might screw things up, just delete the folder who causes the BSOD (that would be the one in the pic you provided)

I installed the new 4 version of EAV and at first it wouldn't update.

Then I installed a trial version obtained from ESET and that wouldn't update.

Uninstalled everything.

Reinstalled the new v. 4 and ran the shelomotuvi reg update file (x64 system here) and even though those files didn't install completely because some of the keys were in use, all of a sudden, EAV 4 started to update and now it's current at 3901 and all the modules are also up to date as far as I can tell. Most of them are later than the latest version listed by Joffre.

Maybe it's also possible their update servers are getting overwhelmed by tons of folks installing v4 now that it's final?

Weird, it doesn't allow me to access the folder. I used to be able to access it, but it doesn't seem so now.
