Marik
• Some of you might already know this.• Now some of the users who already have Ospell installed might or might not encountered this problem. When typing something wrong in either the quick reply field or the advanced reply, you get the following message "Error - For HTTPS Gmail, bla bla bla".• This means that by some mistake the default checking engine isn't selected, and the spell checker cannot complete its task, until you set the default checking engine.• To do this, first go ahead and open WordPad (yes WordPad, because NotePad just doesn't work here), and go into the folder where you saved the Ospell and the preferences file, and open up the file "a-ospell_prefs".• Now, look for the following line (it should be pretty simple to spot, since the script isn't that big)// spell checking engine to use. 0 - GMail (requires to be logged in), 1 - Orangoo, 2 - fearphage ENGINE: 2,• Now on a closer look, we see that GMail is not the default checking engine, and we need to make it the default one (I'm sure that everybody reading this tut has a GMail account). To do this, all we need to do is change the line "ENGINE: 2," to "ENGINE: 0,", the result should look like this.// spell checking engine to use. 0 - GMail (requires to be logged in), 1 - Orangoo, 2 - fearphage ENGINE: 0,• After that just save and close the file, and refresh the page you were currently browsing and go about your business.• To actually use this script with the GMail engine, one must be logged into his GMail account.• Please remember to always tick the "Remember Me" box, otherwise it won't hold and you'll have to manually reconnect every once in a while.
