You must have formatted the pen drive with NTFS. In this format, data can be written fast but takes time to finalize. Try formatting with FAT32 and report back.

For internal HDD, this should not happen. Try to defrag the partitions.

I use Rollback Rx Pc. So, i avoid defragmentation. Should I Use TeraCopy?

Defragmentation is necessary for Hard Drive. Its performance and health depends upon that sometime. Use a good AV with MBAM or HitMan pro. Rollback Rx won't be necessary.

I never found Tera Copy handy for win 7 and win 8. They are fast enough. For Xp, you can consider Tera Copy.

That's Windows file transfer for you. Giving wrong "time remaining" from Windows 95. :P

Jokes apart, TeraCopy is the right way to go IMO. ;)

I moved a movie file of 1.53 GB to my 8 GB pendrive

Here is the Performance analysis:

Time taken(After formatting Pendrive with FAT32 file system)- 7 minute 20 Sec

Time taken(After formatting Pendrive with NTFS file system)- 5 minute 25 Sec+1 minute 50 Sec(Stuck time at 5 Sec Remaining)= 7 minute 15 Sec

Time taken(With Teracopy Pro After formatting Pendrive with FAT32 file system)- 7 minute 7 Sec

Time taken(With Teracopy Pro After formatting Pendrive with NTFS file system)- 8 minute

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laptop Configuration:

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit

3 GB RAM

CORE 2 DUO @1.83 GHZ 1.83 GHZ

-----------------------------------------------------

Now I'm Confused! should i use Teracopy Pro?

Open TeraCopy > Menu > Preference > Misc > make sure "Use system write cache" is checked.

USB speeds are based on few things: CPU power, USB pendrive quality, and utilization. You can't do anything about the first two, but you can try to improve your utilization by improving the hard drive's condition. :)

Depends. Do SSDs have cache?

As per Sevenforums:

Write caching in a connected storage device refers to the use of high-speed volatile memory to collect write commands sent to data storage devices and cache them until the slower storage media (either physical hard disks or low cost flash memory) can accommodate them. Most devices that use write caching require that power be supplied continuously.

It wasn't checked.but, now i have checked "Use system write cache".

Now i'm going to defragment HDD and check drive for errors..

Thanks man! :) :)

Run a CheckDisk on your primary & logical volumes with thorough repair parameters.

I have disabled CheckDisk & scheduled defragmentation for all drives for Rollback Rx PC.

really confused now.

Should i use Rollback Rx or enable CheckDisk & scheduled defragmentation?

Rollback Rx is a Restore solution - it does not defragment or check/scan your disk (this can lead to a deterioration over a period of time.) :(

Uninstall Rollback Rx. The features that it is blocking may lead to HDD damage, sooner or later.

I don't wanna uninstall Rollback Rx, it has saved ma lappy so many times.

I had disabled CheckDisk on Startup, coz it had messed up the backup of Rollback Rx.

Just guide me to Use Rollback Rx without hampering the system Performance.. :o :o

You may perform a CheckDisk on your logical drives and removable media without having to do it at Windows startup - however, it may most probably not be possible on the primary system volume.

Just use the following command with an elevated Command Prompt:-

ChkDsk D: /f /r

In the above example D: stands for D: drive - please substitute that with the drive letter of the disk that you wish to check.

ps:-

Please note there are 3 spaces in the above command.

I have installed Rollback Rx for Primary system volume C only. will it be good enough to enable Scheduled defragmentation and Checkdisk for other two logical drives?
