Casper
So, I want to replace my Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 (Wireless Mouse 5000 & Wireless Keyboard 3000 v2.0).Now, I have been pretty pleased with my set for a while, but want a change.Everything is actually fine besides some minor irritations:-The mouse's scroll wheel is not "indexed" and it's difficult sometimes, in games for example, to change weapons etc.-The "F" keys on the keyboard are shared with some extra function keys, but the text is in dark blue (on a black surface) above the keys - I must always struggle to find the correct "F" key.Besides this, I am ready for a change.I'm looking at Logitech. I bought their Z906 speakers about 18 months back and love them.I'm looking at the wireless (don't want wires) Solar Keyboard K750 and the M510 mouse. I'm just looking for opinions - I have read a few reviews and then some. The mouse seems decent enough, but I am concerned with regards to gaming, although I have been using the Microsoft mouse with not much hassle (besides the scroll wheel). I'm not even sure if I get lag with the mouse, it's probably there, I'm just not noticing it (?). If the M510 performs similarly - it might just be fine. And with their SetPoint software, things may work out even better.. I've looked at other mice, but all the gaming mice are too expensive and wired (at least where I'm planning to order from). So I've just stuck to considering the M510. The battery life is also quite appealing - my current mouse probably only gets me anything from 2-4 months (using 2000mAh rechargeables). Also, I don't want the mouse to be too small as I like a full grip. The keyboard sounds pretty decent too, and I don't really think wireless is a huge problem for keyboards when it comes to gaming.I must add that I do game a bit, but I get easily bored, and don't often find myself actually finishing a game. Perhaps I just like looking at the graphics.. :)What are your opinions?
Administrator DKT27 Posted April 13, 2013 Administrator Share Posted April 13, 2013 I have bought G400 about a year ago. Cheap, great gaming mouse. Supports Logitect Gaming Software - better than Setpoint I feel. However, it's not wireless as you may like. And yea, from my experience, there might be about 2-3ms lag on the wireless mice. ande
@D We have same mice. Good cheap mice with 2 years warranty by Logitech.@CasperI don't know your budget but if you want combination of wireless and gaming my suggestion is Razer Mamba. It comes with cable in case you want to switch between wire and wireless. If you change your mind and want wired mice my suggestion is SteelSeries Sensei. As for keyboards Logitech all the way. I can't imaging how crappy it would be in online FPS games.@D We have same mice. LOQUILLO
I use a SideWinder X3 Mouse and it's enough for me.http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/sidewinder-x3-mouse
Casper
Well I actually ordered the k750 keyboard and m510 mouse, but I used rewards I earn from my bank to pay - so I actually didn't pay.I took a look at the G400 and it really is the best looking gaming mouse I've seen so far. I say this because the others are just stuffed full of buttons and look silly to me, and I don't really use the buttons on a mouse much in gaming - don' t know why I've never even thought to do so. The G400 looks quite tame in this regard. Perhaps it's something to consider for gaming. I don't believe I will stick to the M510 for long as it is. The Razer Mamba sounds quite interesting - wired and wireless. Sadly I can't find it on the site where I am buying from - and the shops here are mostly useless and expensive in comparison.Oh and just so you know, I don't really do online gaming - just the single player. I only have a 2mbps line, but it's the ping or latency that's crazy. Think I can get like 150ms at best in UT2004 / 2007. So online is kind of out of the question for me  . Would this have any impact on a decision? Although, I believe it doesn't matter if it's online or offline ..it's the mouse in general to be considered here (??). I'm not really a huge gamer, but sometimes we want more than we can chew. It is nice to know that if you want to game, it's at your disposal. Administrator DKT27 Posted April 14, 2013 Administrator Share Posted April 14, 2013 Good. :)I personally would like couple of more buttons on my G400, but couldn't afford higher priced one. :P But this is quite good, the only thing bad about it is that it's limited to one colour. M510 looks good. G400 looks like a next gen of it (note, it's next gen of MX512). Also, recently, Logitech updated G400 with even higher DPI, etc.The lowest I get is 150ms too. And my line is worse than 2mbps. In the end, it's all about where you live and where the servers are placed - I don't like playing on servers in US - high ping times to reach India, instead, playing on servers in EU, which is quite nearer to India, gives 150-200ms ping times. Yeah, mouse in general have to be considered here, for me, the wireless lag is a little bit more than I would like, not only that, somehow I feared that Logitech's unifying reciever might be interfering with my router's WiFi signal.
