WOW avg did so well considering the excellent fix for AVG that is available might be a decent option. ESET seems to be performing slightly worse on the successive tests I've been looking at.

Eset is always billed to be the "not on-par with the big boys" AV because they think it lacks extra features which some would call bloatware but some call simply extra features. Although it lacks some "big" features like IM Protection and P2P Protection, it proves to be adequate enough for even the advanced users.

Once, one of my hacker friend and I were discussing a script, which he later sent me to read, via Live Messenger, and ESET immediately blocked it. And ESET is known to catch files in torrents, once was saved from a keylogger. My point is, they aren't marketing or showing off these features, but they exists, without any overlapping scanning or bloat.

I completely agree. I don't give a crap about extra performance features, but looking at specific tests ESET till about ESET 4 used to be the very best you could get. The same testers are now finding ESET slipping slightly.

Anyway, ridiculously impressed by how well AVG scored - is there anyone using AVG atm? is it any good?

The thing I love about ESET SS is that it is so incredibly fast. My PC doesnt slow down a beat, I barely notice a difference between running the full ESET SS and just comodo firewall. Really excellent in that sense.

Haven't used AVG since like 2006 and it was exactly the bad that everyone was talking about although I heard 2012 was the game changer for AVG and 2013 is just as good as protecting users as that in 2012 but isn't able to protect itself as good as that in 2012.

I always choose AV has score from 90% to 97%, and performance, that's the most important

I quit believing this review. I hate Bit and Kis anymore. I use my own judgement on what works best on my own computer. Sometimes an antivirus + an antimalware + a firewall is much better that a security program. I have not seen a good antispam or Parental control.As for utilities, get it seperate.

I have always trusted and loved avast!, when I used Kaspersky it slowed down the internet connection, same thing happened when I used BitDefender, Norton and avast! doesn't do that, and avast! 8 is lightweight too even though I'm using Premier version of it.

I haved tried Avast Free, The IS, and Pro Versions. Love the way it says it has updated. But never could tell if I really was secure or not. The free version had me confused about cleaning. But like I say, I guess it just depends on what you are comfortable with.

Just for lolz I installed AVG IS 2013... pretty surprised by it so far. I did some very minor testing and it functioned well enough. User interface is nice. Runs very quick - I only noticed a slight change in performance compared to eset. Might stick with this for a while - see how it goes!

Do tell us how it goes. AVG Free wrecked my PC when I installed it so I might not use it unless its really worth it.

Well I've already gotten rid of it :D

Nothing particularly bad about it. It passed all my very superficial testing. Advanced options are still not really there. It deleted one or two of my files and I was trying to recover it from the virus vault but was having problems doing so. That was probably the worst thing. I noticed slight slowdown compared to ESET, internet browsing was a bit slower too.

They have broken up the individual processes of AVG up so you see like 8 processes running in taskmanager, using 5-10 mb ram. Not too bad all added up.

I dunno. I was running ESET+commodo 1-2 years ago, but then I moved to comodo IS 2013 with the AV component disabled. Something about that comodo firewall is just so re-assuring. I'm still on v5 atm but maybe if they've ironed out some of the bugs in 6 I might move to that.
