How much time did you give it? IDM tends to stop at 99.99% to assemble the file from segments/cache. Depending on PC, you can feel a slowdown when its doing it. The bigger the file the longer it takes. IDK about FDM.

i tried uninstalling my AV turned off my windows firewall.

Those need a reboot (after being disabled) to take affect.

I know but it was just getting time out

Always advisable to use torrents to download system files - especially an OS.

Just want to download quick

This does not look like a download link or host problem to me - there seems to be some security system that's scanning your downloads (wonder if you have something in the form of a portable.)

Did not turn out quick - now, did it?

If one has the talent to configure one's torrent client properly - the client can return as good as 94% of the download speed as IDM brings.

don't you know about MultiQuote? :uhuh:
look for torrent with a lot of seeding, you'll get the speed. :)
and anyway, did it can be resumed? if it didn't, what was the message?

I think you have to download the file using the browser downloader, some sites block the download accelerators like IDM..., Since a long time I had the same issue with IDM but I was trying the trick 'ALT+CLIC on link for download" (to make the browser download instead of IDM) and it worked fine

@ Tarik

There are just 2 more reasons that I think of, WRT to your failed downloads:-

01.) Perhaps you're running a very old IDM version (that I remember had this issue.)

02.) Your volume does not have the free space required to cache the download fragments.

LOL, C:\ drive will run out of space (if it has to) regardless of IDM or torrent client - that can be easily factored for by configuring IDM to change destination.
