Download Accelerator Plus[DAP], this is equal/better compared to IDM. It has some features that IDM doesn't have and the only cons is it takes more CPU usage than IDM.

What features does Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) have that Internet Download Manager (IDM) does not?

Still waiting for those mysterious DAP features that IDM is supposed to not have. :s

EagleGet

OK, here are my results:

EG vs IDM

  • The interface is much more leaner and better looking than IDM
  • The Downloading speed are pretty much the same with the exception that IDM reports higher download speeds.
  • Some features are still missing (This is not a problem as Its actively developed)*
  • Has little settings *
  • The Firefox extension memory usage: IDM 144.9 KB | EG 46.9 KB (Not much, but it still counts)
  • Main program memory usage: IDM 23.17 MB (19 MB) | EG 32 MB (20 MB) (When its used - Warm start) (IDM wins this :P )

I am willing to replace IDM with this in the near future :showoff:

Well, it's not possible without messing up the vote numbers.

LazyPotato

IDM,thought,IDM users will vote for IDm,other users will vote for their manager,IDM's fanbase is bigger,so this thread's answer is kinda obivious.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just tested IDM after a long long time.

I must say it is almost perfect.

I would have liked a download graph.. similar to utorrent and may be more details regarding login and connections like Orbit.

Never seen better download speeds and its addon for Chrome is perfect as well.

GetRight's latest update is 2 years old, still it is the most featured download manager.

Very good comparison of download manager, and often updated:

I can't believe this question was even asked. Before I voted, I saw the correct answer and that was the first one listed, IDM.

EagleGet is really Cranking it Up ... And to Sweeten the deal, it is Free - No hassle of regularly trying to reactivate it again when the Developer Blocks Keys and Medicine ... You guys should give it a Spin and see its Performance .. Cheers ...

As much as I've praised Eagleget over and over again, it just doesn't come near IDM.

It may take months, or even years, to catch up. :(

Since IDM went pear shaped I've been trying most of the others. Some would be quite decent if they worked with Sandboxie

Don't even bother using any others if you use Sandboxie.

It's hard to recommend them because they were incompatible, but DAP, Getright and DownloadStudio stood out as the better ones.

I'm back to IDM again now and it works great. I also use JDownloader for file sharing sites that IDM doesn't like. That's the reason I was looking for 1 that did it all, but no such luck.

I recommend IDM especially if you use Sandboxie, it's a no brainer :D
