Which download manager is best in increasing download speed and resuming broken download?

- Internet download manager
- Free download manager
- FlashGet
- Orbit downloader

I am trying to understand which one of these programs is good enough, if you could tell me their pros and cons. Thanks :)

It would be much better to remove the version numbers as they change regularly; and it's obvious that IDM is the best. :)

Note: Added more options. We have decided that we should continue on this new thread as 3 years (when the last thread was made) is too long in fast moving computer world, inspite of the download manager market being pretty much stagnant since then. ;)

Did I miss anything? Do let me know. :)

Did you guys notice how many registry keys IDM creates?
This amazing tool is bloated and would be awesome if developer fixed it.

I would also look for alternative like Orbit and FDM but I'm not sure if they can compete with IDM.

there really is no competition really since IDM blows each and every one out of the water.

IDM is the king of dl managers. :win:

When it comes to achieving 101% of your bandwidth IDM is the one.

However I find some free alternatives much better when dealing with free file-hosting services.

Free download manager, it helps me manage my seedbox.
For me FTP is not an option, so I use http instead. I can download a whole folder from my seedbox this way.
