Internet connectivity....hellish issues!

Something weird is happening to my internet connection whenever I use Windows 7. I can successfully ping google.com via the CMD and whenever I turn on PeerBlock it seems to block stuff coming in. Im not infected, I scanned my computer with a few things and used HijackThis! and there is no sign of any issues. I already used the ipconfig /flushdns and it did not fix it. I reset my Internet Explorer to default settings.

I can't seem to understand why the connections to the Internet as so bad right now...but they are. I am able to connect via my phone to the network but my computer, whenever I try and connect, it refuses to connect. I'm currently using my duel boot Linux Mint to connect in right now (thank God this works!). I did nothing out of the ordinary to have this issue. Im VERY careful online and it appears that I am connected off and on but I can never get to where I am trying to go, but the internet is wide open. I'm not hijacked, but there is no clear way to fix my issue. I really want to fix this without reformatting because then I won't ever find out what happened. I'll reformat if I HAVE to.

One other weird thing to point out and it made me think I WAS infected; my antivirus was on in the proccesses but not in the system tray. Trying to pull up my antivirus wouldn't work at all, even if I tried opening it via admin. I uninstalled it an reinstalled it, it's working now.

Why can I ping things in CMD and my PeerBlock seems to be blocking stuff out yet there is no visible sign of infection, exploit, or anything else.....what could be wrong here??? I'm ussually the guru around here, people come to me for computer related help but this has got me really stumped...HELP PLEASE!

OH! I forgot to mension that my Google Talk kept asking for a proxy to connect to but I had never setup a proxy for it. Just to be safe, I uninstalled it but it did not affect anything for the better.

Did you try setting up a new Admin account and then connecting from there ...

And boot in " Safe mode with networking" and then try to connect ....

Also , just run the Network Troubleshooter from Control Panel .

It does help find and fix network errors .....

( .... i remember once , i scratched my hairs out trying to correct a network issue i was facing but failed . Just then out of the blue i thought of running the troubleshooter and miraculously it did repair everything up . 1 minute of it VS 6 hours of mine ! :P )

There are some other things that I have tried, using the network troubleshooter was one of them, it was unable to fix the problem and it decided that very quicky.

Open services.msc and then make sure these are set to Manual state:

  • Network Connections
  • Network List Service
  • Wired AutoConfig

Then make sure this is set to Automatic state:

  • WWAN AutoConfig

Then make sure of that you haven't enabled HTTP block in PeerBlock.

Everything was right minus the WWAN AutoConfig but then after I switched it to what you suggested, it still did not work. PeerBlock is only used when I'm downloading torrents or like yesterday, for testing reasons. Problem still continues....

I had already pre-downloaded the Microsoft Fix It tool because I used it on another persons computer before, it's the full offline version, it did not fix the problems. I made another admin account, it's having the same connectivity issues. I can reach websites via ping in cmd but thats about it. Firefox doesn't work. IE doesn't work. Chrome doesn't work. But I am actually connected, it says so, but then won't let me surf the Internet. Is there some sort of cmd based form of Internet Browser?

This computer that Im on right now is the same computer that has Windows 7 on it and so I know it's not the network adapter. Any new suggestions or ideas?

I forgot to mention that I also tried it in safe mode with networking, the same issue was happening even in that mode.

Do you use CCleaner with Winapp2.ini file? When I used ADSL connection instead of WLAN it caused some problems for internet connection, for me it did exactly what it did to you, it seemed that I'm connected to internet but still I couldn't connect, then I noticed that it was CCleaner which messed up my ADSL-router, so I had to put router back to factory settings, first I turned off my computer, then I turned off my router, then I waited about 5 minutes, then I turned on my router, and then I switched it back to factory settings, then I restared my computer, then internet connection worked normally again.

Sometimes switching ADSL-router back to factory settings does not help, only a clean install will fix the problem what CCleaner caused.

The internet around the world has been slowed down in what security experts are describing as the biggest cyber-attack of its kind in history.

A row between a spam-fighting group and hosting firm has sparked retaliation attacks affecting the wider internet.

It is having an impact on popular services like Netflix - and experts worry it could escalate to affect banking and email systems.

Five national cyber-police-forces are investigating the attacks.

Spamhaus, a group based in both London and Geneva, is a non-profit organisation that aims to help email providers filter out spam and other unwanted content.

To do this, the group maintains a number of blocklists - a database of servers known to be being used for malicious purposes.

Recently, Spamhaus blocked servers maintained by Cyberbunker, a Dutch web host that states it will host anything with the exception of child pornography or terrorism-related material.

Sven Olaf Kamphuis, who claims to be a spokesman for Cyberbunker, said, in a message, that Spamhaus was abusing its position, and should not be allowed to decide "what goes and does not go on the internet".

Spamhaus has alleged that Cyberbunker, in cooperation with "criminal gangs" from Eastern Europe and Russia, is behind the attack.

-Reset the network adapters .

-Play around with IPv4 settings . IP and DNS addresses .

-Turn off one adapter ( i.e Wireless or LAN ) and then connect .

-Run Wireshark , to see and analyze the network while it says "Connected" . Along with the running processes .

-Disable Firewall and all security software and then connect .

-Try connecting to some another network , other than your home . LIke at a friend's place .

-Reset router .

-Scan with multiple scanners . Hitman , Super , MBAM, MRT.exe , etc etc etc .....

-Run sfc/scannow , chkdsk/r ...etc etc ...

something should work ...........
