Driverpack Solution 13 vs Driver Magician 3.71

I used Driverpack Solution to update all of my drivers only to find that Driver Magician has an update feature as well. Not sure how I missed it. Anyway, after running DPS, I decided to see how well it did by comparing it to Driver Magician. DM found drivers that DPS did not, so I updated them--or so I thought. I restarted my computer and ran DM again and it detected that the same drivers needed updated after I just installed them. So if there are any users of one of these--or both--would you like to share your experience?

I ALWAYS go and get the drivers i need manualy for my hardware as sometimes i

have noticed that some programs say theres an update where infact there isnt.

Also i down my drivers for xp and win7 as my pc is dual boot!

How many people here got a graphics driver update to find that after a reboot

you're graphics have shot to hell using these driver finders!

Let me guess. You use ATI for graphics.

I prefer DriverGenius, i got some false with Driver Solution Pack.

I must agree with you - DriverGenius seems more acurate in recommendations . B)

:win: november_ra1n posted recently a portable version that I`m using since then ...

I use Driver`s Pack Solution for installing drivers offline (when I am in a hurry :P )

I don't know about that. It's still saying that I need to update a driver that I've updated already.

I use neither

I get the drivers form the manufacturers page...why?

Because Driverpacks etc are volunteer maintained and quite often drivers are old, and the manufacturers arent.

Really dont see why you would need driverpacks. Even in a large rollout, we usually have identical machines, so we setup one using MDT or similar, inject the drivers .....for those PC's that are different we use an image without injected drivers and let windows update handle the most common ones (we generally dont find a reason to install ATI or Nvidia full driver setups for end users in a corporate environment as they dont need all the control panels etc), any specific hardware it cant handle, we manually do...

Nevermind the fact that Driverpacks only distributes using torrent (i remember when it didnt, it was better), which means that the traffic on some ISP's, mine included, is throttled....which means its slow and a pain in the arse to download.

Nope, manual method for me.

Unfortunately, HP doesn't always have the updated version of their drivers. Not only that, the drivers on my system are no longer supported because I installed Windows 7 instead of 8. Some of the drivers will still install but most will not. The only driver I get from HP is the graphics driver because the updated version that is out everywhere else is not compatible.
