[Solved] Office 2013

We want to install Office 2013, but ONLY OUTLOOK AND WORD!

We dont use the rest of all these office programs, especially NO SKYDRIVE!!

After trying this ,we get a greyed-out skydrive-pro item in the right-click menu, and after clicking on the computer-icon,everytime a horrible cracking sound ( again skydrive interfering?) It seems, when you did not choosed skydrive, during the install-options, it will be installed,if you like it or not!!

So maybe someone knows how to install Outlook and Word,WITHOUT THE REST , please let us know!!

If there is an option to remove skydrive or totally switching it off ??

Yes,we have. Win7 SP1x64. With Off.2010 we never had one of the issues mentioned above.

Run Yamicsoft Manager >>----> Customization >>----> Context Menu >>----> (un-tick/disable all instances of SPFC) >>----> Log off.

That was the safe way.

Another method - the risky way is to navigate to delete the following key from the registry:-

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shell\SPFS.ContextMenu]

Will try your first option with WinMan, the second option does not work.

Indeed the greyed-out skydrive is gone out of your right click-menu, but after restarting Outlook or Word this f****** skydrive appears again!!

The meanest thing is; we did not installed it ( it is an install-option,just like Exel or Word, before the installation of Office 2013), so how to remove this "app" , we did not ask for!!

In that case, you'll need to un-register the .dll that causes that context menu with Outlook - use an elevated CMD for the following command:-

x32-bit systems

regsvr32 /u "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Office15\GROOVEEX.DLL"

x64-bit systems

regsvr32 /u "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office15\GROOVEEX.DLL"

I think what he meant was something like this ~

However I'm unsure if any of the office 2013 standalone apps will work fine or not without the skydrive plugin !

office 2013 = need skydrive

office 2010 = no need skydrive

Even Office 2013 doesn't need SkyDrive - I've deleted mine many moons ago without an issue.

OK, will you please tell us how you removed skydrive from your PC??

And is it possible to install ONLY OUTLOOK AND WORD, without the things we do not need??

If this is not possible, we have to stay with Off.2010, for Off.2013 brings more problems then progress!

Anyway how is it possible to see skydrive on your system, if you DID NOT INSTALLED IT?

There is this option of selecting individual components to install within the office 2013 setup(see the image above) but if you've already installed the product & don't wanna reinstall it then you can remove the items individually, if you only want to remove skydrive though perhaps dcs18 can help you with lt !

I've already posted the commands to remove SkyDrive Pro in my previous post - did you not try it? :)

SkyDrive Pro is just another name for SharePoint - it resides in the GROOVEEX.DLL

Whether you opted to install SkyDrive Pro or not - it will always be a part of Windows Updates; just like other components one did not install:-

  • Lync
  • OneNote
  • Visio Viewer

I see,of course we want no skydrive-updates, only remove the skydrive( wich we did not ask for!!). If I understand you well, you say ;use the reg-key,and this will do??

After this regsvr32-key we are done with skydrive on our system?

Do we have to take more steps to get rid of this "Microsoft-present" or OK now?

Thanks a lot,all of you ,for your support, for we can not install this Off.2013 with the skydrive!!

LOL, yeah - fcuk SkyDrive Pro (it's not required - at least, for me.)

Well, after deleting SPFC from the registry, you need to also run the command I posted on post # 7 ;)

OK, how do we totally remove this skydrive-present out of our registry? After doing this we can apply the reg-key you mentioned in post # 7.

We have to know, cause it is a lot of work, removing 2010 and installing 2013 ( WITHOUT THIS SKYDRIVE) !

01.) Just delete the following key from the registry:-

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shell\SPFS.ContextMenu]

02.) Running the following command using an elevated CMD as per the architecture of your system:-

For x32-bit systems:-
regsvr32 /u "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Office15\GROOVEEX.DLL"

or

For x64-bit systems:-

regsvr32 /u "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office15\GROOVEEX.DLL"

You're most welcome, Pete - whichever edition you choose to install don't forget to opt for a Custom install right at the beginning and then follow ROH1T's screenshot before you proceed. :)

OK, when I'm running Outlook 2013, it's not happening with me - that means that SkyDrive is installed in your system and must be uninstalled through the Add or remove programs. Please find any entry listed as either one of the following three:-

  • Microsoft SkyDrive
  • Windows Live SkyDrive
  • SkyDrive

Can not find it ,but it still exists, after opening Outlook. Outlook opens everytime with the windows-installer; 64-bit component configurate, this takes about 3 seconds, and then Outlook opens.

After this, all the changes, you told me to do,are gone again!!

Alright if its not too much of a hassle do a system restore, backup any outlook settings/email(s) that are important & may well be required afterwards !

So then do a system restore by selecting the system restore point when office 2013 was installed & reinstall it again by selecting only the components you want, remember no greyed out checkbox as there'll be a cross for apps that'll not be installed !

Just curious btw what do you need office 2013 for that can't be done on office 2010 especially since you're not installing any cloud related stuff ?

Wonder why this Win-installer always want to configure 64-bit components with starting up Outlook 2013.

We uninstalled Off.2010 with TotalUninstall and then with Micr.Fixit 50450.Also PowerPoint-Vieuwer removed this way.

Then made a reboot, and installed ONLY OUTLOOK AND WORD. Maybe still an Off.2010-component wich causes this 64-bit component configuration??

Syst.rest. not the question,we uninstalled Off.2010 and installed Off.2013 in Try-Modus.

Why Off.2013?? Well,its newer ( and maybe better also),looks good,but most important,we win lots of disk-space with Off.2013!! ( almost 800 mb ) and its fast,maybe faster then the 2010-Off.

Still waiting for the right tip,for installing Outlook and Word, without this skydrive!!
