xpmule
trying to figure out what is going on here..I downloaded the .exe from the usual link and realized it was not updated (still previous the build) so i seen nsane has a different link..There seems to be a new build every day or two and no info anywhere why..The nsane page says something about a windows hotfix.. i googled it and nothing came up and i don;t see anything on the UltraEdit site either.Who knows maybe they are just updating the malware they bundle with this program now a days LOLLast year i updated one day and i noticed the installer was almost twice teh size as it used to be and i looked and sureenough it was loaded with Toolbar installer crap (which they never ever used to do)This is pretty shady behavior for a company charging money for shareware !Not only are they gonna give you a crippled nag-ware program but they are gonna make money off of getting Toolbars installed on us all !And i don't know about anyone else but i consider Toolbars that are sneaked into installers to be Malware !The version / build 1026 has a 10mb AVGToolbar setup extracted in your temp folder on install (it's bundled into the main installer)This god damn program calls home too much too through a huge variety of methods and at random times and i *think i found a cachein the temp folder that had a log it created collecting information during install that it wanted to send home.. i have also noticed new bahaviorwith this program i have never seen over the years (with updates locked out in the registry) Now it randomly calls home for some reason while idle..Anyway i think people should be aware of what kind of activity software developers are up to.. especially if they are being sneaky about things !I grabbed this new build and i will be hex comparing EVERY single file.. every one of them down to the images in the chm's lolThis increasingly sketchy behavior from these guys is making consider alternatives and feel sorry for paying customers that are being snooped on and areforced to download 10mb a pop of Toolbars per update LOL

xpmule
I'll stick with Notepad2.Ty xpmule for nice review.LOLi just hope to share what i find ;)and i still like UltraEdit as a hex editor i'm just used to using it now even though i ignore most features it has lolBeing able to create your own syntax highlighting is cool though.. i just wish they had a better hex copy and paste feature. The way that works in "Hex Workshop" is exactly how i wish it worked on UltraEdit. (new to that one and tried it out recently)Xways Win Hex is good too and one of the cool things that one can do is open up a windows so you can browse the contents of ram :)New build out already lol
