LiLmEgZ
How hard do you guys think it would be for me to downgrade my ASUS N56VZ-RH71 laptop from Windows 8 (this is the original OS on it) down to Windows 7 with all the exclusive shit these machines carry on them?I was just kinda wondering what you guy think on the matter if I should just keep it on Windows 8 or just downright downgrade it to Windows 7.... and if so, which edition of Windows 7 should be put on it (be very honest!)? LiLmEgZ
Well the original versions of this laptop come with Windows 7 on them.... I assume I would have to install all the ASUS Utilities/Programs that came loaded with this system to make it work right with Windows 7?You can google the N56VZ-RH71 ASUS laptop if you need the specs on it.On a side note it has UEFI partition on the HD like Knightmare's HP does. R3C0N
I'm going to do the same. To much trouble with Win8. If enable run all apps as admin then no metro app work anymore cause uac is to disable. Doing this then Metro Apps work but automatically it switch UAC on again. The security features from Win 8 makes me feel like locked out and no way to bypass them all or disable. Windows 8 is something for beginner on PC. No advanced user will like it.

For the moment going back to wind0ws 7 is the only option you have as a gamer. ;)

dcs18
People somebody needs help to install a different OS and he knows what's best for him (not us.)So, let's stop acting like FanBoys and throwing bricks at one another - it won't help the OP.I beg to differ. Window 8 to WIndow 7 is actuall an "upgrade" for me. If you know what I mean :)Once upon a time, that's exactly what I thought, too - just try my earlier posts. Time showed me what a Faggot I was because it was not Windows 8 but I that was the downgrade. :)
LiLmEgZ
So if I do decide to downgrade to Windows 7..... Professional or Ultimate and definitely NOT Home Premium, right? Also if you look up my laptop, N56VZ-RH71 by ASUS, it does support Windows 7 on the ASUS Software Download page... feel free and have a look ;)I just hope it wont be such a pain in the ass to downgrade it for gaming............ Intel HD 4000 and NVIDIA GT 650M, just for reference here. That is not truly "dual graphics cards" that is your MB had a build in graphics card and Asus added an aftermarket card to your laptop. The two cards are no way shape or form compatible with each other if you was wanting to use both at the same time..That being said, before you go blaming drivers on your glitchiness, go into BIOS and double verify that the built in graphics card is fully disabled. Even though it is not used, if it is still enabled it will steal memory from your main OS and possibly cause IRQ errors because it is sharing them with your aftermarket graphics card. Doing that might fix a couple of your hiccups you are experiencing and try turning the settings down a bit on your BF3 to see if that also will fix your problems. Administrator DKT27 Posted March 9, 2013 Administrator Share Posted March 9, 2013 I thought I was the only one with glitching graphics and other gaming problems. That being said, I'm on AMD on desktop, so I can't connect them together. But, but, gaming is not smooth as OS is.
LiLmEgZ
@ NutHut: it has 2 gfx cards because of the Intel i7 having the Intel HD 4000, then theres the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (which is enabled and switched on by the system for gaming) this feature is called NVIDIA Optimus if you have never heard of it.Intel HD 4000 is always in use when I am on desktop mode.... because I cant use the NVIDIA for desktop apparently.... since theres no actual NVIDIA options available for desktop usage when on desktop mode only. dcs18
I never try to convince people to migrate and can only say this:-Windows 7:-is the best OS out-of-the-box - there's less that can be bettered (the scope is quite limited.)Windows 8:-is the best OS for a Techie with the right kind of knowledge, resource, time & inclination.Windows 8:-is also the best OS for one not a Techie, but blessed with the support of a SysAdmin who is a good Configurator in customizing the OS (just the first time.)Based on the above facts, you are the only person in the whole world who knows yourself the best - advice given by others is just an opinion, not the fact.Only you - yourself will be able to make out whether:-Windows 7 is suitable for you orYou are suitable for Windows 8Personally, whatever assistance you ask for shall be given (regardless of your choice of OS.) Administrator DKT27 Posted March 11, 2013 Administrator Share Posted March 11, 2013 Simple answer is that it's on you to decide. If you feel Windows 8 is causing problems, then try something else.I wanna try Linux so I can iron out my graphics problems, but I don't have that much time of now. LiLmEgZ
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that my laptop is UEFI-based... so whats the exact correct method to go about installing Windows 7 on a UEFI-based system?I know this has probably been answered before ;)
Administrator DKT27 Posted March 12, 2013 Administrator Share Posted March 12, 2013 Always wondered if just disabling secure boot would allow installing Windows 7 ? :)
LiLmEgZ
I'm not sure DKT... I kinda have been toying with this in the BIOS program.... it still shows the UEFI Boot From DVD on the boot menu option for my DVD drive....It also shows the normal boot option for DVD too... but I'm not sure which to use for installation for best results since the system has UEFI in it!
