Eset 6 Offline Update Registry Edit Help

Need help on registry edit to allow offline update in eset 6 smart security

For eset 4 (and 5 may be)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ESET\ESET Security\CurrentVersion\Info

and edit "PackageFeatures" from 3 to 1

(use safe mode, run and regedit)

Now for eset 6 the value is confusing

"PackageFeatures" value is 53,

changing it to 1 fails to start firewall, web modules

any help is really appreciated

No need for registry editing. you can use hfs. add "eset_upd" folder as "real folder" in hfs and add the following line in hosts file.

127.0.0.1 update.eset.com

sorry, this method is not working

I am on windows 8 64 bit

clear the update cache and try to update, its downloading online (about 35MB file size)

furthermore localhost, 'localhost/eset_upd', 127.0.0.1/eset_upd are not working in browser

I have flushed the DNS cache, restarted, etc no luck

may be I will find out myself

changing packagefeature from 53 to 51 makes the interphase funny

protection status, main menu is now at the end

I have Win8x64 too. you should put the "update.ver" and "*.nup" files inside "eset_upd\v6\" folder.

you did't mention \v6 earlier

edited the host file

and in browser

still eset updates online, ignoring local

disconnected and try to update

now the update started and ended with an error!

add "eset_upd" folder to hfs not "v6".

yes I have already tried that too.

Is this trick working for you in eset 6(important!)

Anyway below trick is working for me, but 4 restarts, anyway win 8 restart and reboots under 10 sec (so no big deal)

install eset 6

reboot to safe mode

change package feature from 53 to 51

no we can choose custom download location

update offline

reboot to safe mode change back to 53

restart to normal

done!

Note: changing package feature to 51 breaks the eset UI (see post http://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/160974-eset-6-offline-update-registry-edit-help/#entry543770 for details) but do NOT break any functions or modules(double checked)

It works with every version of eset. As you see in the first picture eset update notification appears in the corner.
