My cousin gave me his BDIS license since he didn't like it during the trial but availed for their 13 Cents deal or something like that. I mean its free and legal so I won't bring it down. What settings should I use in this AV since I know stock settings doesn't always work best.

Default settings are fine I think. If you are seeing "Autoscan" icon in tray while you are using your PC, or see some drastic slowdown while using the PC, disable Autoscan from the main window. Problem with autoscan is that, it should run when the computer is idle, but, it actually runs when you are using it (gaming for example).

EDIT: Moved to Security and Privacy Center.

Don't do it man.... Use free software or buy one that will not drag your system down..

First I installed it and yes, 3 seconds was taken added to my boot up but so far there's nothing bad. Second, I was given a 1 Year License for an AV that's been given awards for years so I can't let that go to waste.

Use the game mode feature built in to the software

You computer. watch it be drained and your speed

Not True ... You didn't tried 2013 version of Bitdefender . It's very light ( 20-60mb of ram) it depends. And i had no problems with autoscan , it was doing it's work when computer was idle , when i start to use it , autoscan stops itself.

I would reccomend Bitdefender to anyone :)

Get IOBIT Ultimate, you get Bits engine with yes crap. And I had 2013. It blowed. I still have it but will not install it on anything. Its your life, you have to live it, Kis, Bit, Norton, use your systems and trojans, spyware and malware gets buy them.

I almost had mine set the same when I tried the security, but I had the antivurus on my system. Either way I was not happy with it, and I had about the same set up as u. Took forever for my programs or net to load. Use Wisecare 365 and check your speed with it and without it. And yes KIS 2013 I bought at Amazon last year, then won A 2013 VERSION. BOTH BLOWED. They lost their touch somehow. It is all come and go and, some people like to stick with what they know and have always used. i used to love ZoneAlarm too. But now i go by what gives me decent protection and does not slow my system down and also lets me run a little something extra like a antilogger, and a small malware protector. And still lets me have boottime from about 25 to 35 seconds.
