Works OK in Windows 8, can use purefix or box_mara, both do the job

All three pf them - box, mara- & PurplebeanZ are gonna spill in their pants when they read this breaking news.

FYI - ESS6.x has issues.

I encountered a couple of major problems that may not affect average users but these issues make ESS6 unusable for me so I reverted back to version 5.

Checkout Wilder Security Forums for more info. You'll find there are lots of concerns with this version.

Just my 2 cents but I suggest everyone wait for a while before upgrading to v6.

What problems, bro. - just curious (I'm sure there are problems.) :)

ESS6 sometimes blocks all access to the LAN and the machine has to be rebooted to regain access. It does this more often when the firewall is set to Interactive Filter Mode. I've deleted all rules, changed IDS settings, disabled certain settings one-by-one, etc... I have tested 9 ways to Sunday. It is definetly ESS6 causing the issue. I have even installed ESS6 on a fresh install of Windows7 with no other apps. Problem still exists. Simply uninstalling ESS6 and reinstalling ESS5 resolves the issue everytime.

I'm working with tech support but it's slow going with zero progress so far. I want to update to ESS6 but I feel it's just not ready for prime time.

I've been using ESS for several years and I don't recall ever encountering an issue this severe when updating previous versions.

Why not just use ESET NOD32 and forget ESET Smart Security? NOD32 is basically the same thing, just no firewall... It protects me from viruses/Trojans and alike, I like it, that's ALL I want it to do and that's that :)

I like the ESET firewall. I use interactive mode so I can see what's trying to get in and out of my computer.

ESET needs to fix v6. Version 5 works just fine.
