utorrent 2.2.1 Build 25130 is listed as the 'preferred version by many since not including all the latest extra stuff'.

However, uTorrent 2.2.1 build 25273 was the last stable 2.2.1 version. It was released on 2011-05-10.
All utorrent 2.2.1 versions have bad magnetic link support, -so I recommend at least a version 3.1-, but you can upgrade your list.

Well, maybe you know more than me. I said goodbye to 2.2.1 the first time it failed to download some stuff from piratebay. At that point it was acknowledged by utorrent that there was a problem. After that, I have not looked any further.

Why?

The answer is simple, in 2.2.1 the option "Append .!ut to incomplete files" is broken and I need it this badly.

And in general I've found this version to be the most stable, but this could be a placebo ;-)

AFAIK In 3.x you can disable ads by switching to False:

offers.left_rail_offer_enabled

offers.sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled

But I'm not interested at all in switching to version 3.x

I checked the magnetic link function again, today, on thepiratebay. There is still a warning on the site that: '(Problems with magnet links are fixed by upgrading your torrent client)'. This does not seem true for uTorrent anymore.

Download was fine with uTorrent 2.2.1 Build 25504.

Conclusion: 2.2.x versions remain good to avoid stuff added in later versions of uTorrent.

To avoid crap in uTorrent 3.3 versions, you can:

Uncheck in Options: "Show Featured Content' and 'Show Plus Information'.

Disable ads by going to Options, Preferences, Advanced.

Set following items to *false:

Exit uTorrent. Check folder C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp\ for a temporary passenger: BunndleOfferManager.dll. If necessary, reboot to delete it. Start uTorrent 3.x again. Things should be fine.

i did some research on this and he's right.

i also posted a few of these last builds with a DHT patch on The Pirate Bay if people are interested.

and magnet links work perfectly fine so i have no idea why that guy is saying there is a problem.. never seen a problem 1 time !

also many builds are not listed in the official changelog so search all you want your not gonna find em lol

and like buddy said earlier its just a promo change so it don't matter.. if people do not know what that means ?

it's basicly a promo app addon. there is one embedded in each 2.2.1 version and each build has a different one inside.

if you read the changelog it mentions this sorta.. but if you don't click on install addons it would never make any difference.

in other words the core .exe of the program has not changed and all these different builds are gonna work the same.

Let me enlighten you on that one. I said there was a problem because there was a problem. It has been solved after a while.

Now, if you look into the utorrent user forum, you will still find magnet link problems with different causes, so it's not like your 'never seen a problem 1 time' is a truth worthwhile about this.

uTorrent 2.x is okay. Disabling the add-ons gives the latest version. Having both options is best.

actually i am totaly correct i have NOT seen a problem with magent links 1 single time.

and i HAVE seen a lot of complaints about magnet links and they are always by people who don't know what the hell they are doing lol
