Help: Installing An Unlocked BIOS

I am looking to install the Insyde 1.12 Unlocked BIOS for my Acer Aspire V3-771G, I currently have the stock version of the Insyde 1.12 BIOS installed, so I am unsure if I can actually install what amounts to the same BIOS, although unlocked, over it.

The stock BIOS can be installed directly from within Windows and also has a DOS installer as well, but I am not sure about the unlocked BIOS. Here is a screenshot of the files within the zip file for the unlocked BIOS:

The BIOS itself can be found for download here:

There are no instructions in the zip archive, which I think is just stupid!

Can anyone give me an idea of how to do this, because I assume there are people here who have installed unlocked BIOS in their PCs before?

Ok, A couple of things if I may :-

i) Have you every flashed any type of bios / type of product like this before ? (it can leave you with an expensive brick if you balls this up!)

ii) Is it worth really risking the above for a few extra tweaks ?

c) If you answer both yes and yes then, grab Flashit from the below link :-

ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com/netbook/aspire_one_150/bios/

Download one the files and extra the Flashit from inside the .rar

Then you will need to make a boot disk so you can boot your Pc / Netbook into DOS mode. Follow this link for a quick tutorial on how to with a USB stick

http://blogs.technet.com/b/csstwplatform/archive/2012/06/26/how-to-create-a-ms-dos-bootable-usb-flash-drive.aspx

Once you've done the above, Boot to dos and type flashit <bios filename> /all

OR

If you answer no to either, I suggest you don't. :)

Even more so if it's windows 8, there is currently a hack to bypass the UEFI on windows 8 in the wild, but would wait until a more stable release.

No, it's Windows 7 that I have, and the BIOS for the V3-771G is 1.12 (and lower right now), any new V3-771G should be coming out with Windows 8 gets UEFI and the firmware is v2 and above.

I have flashed a lot of biases and have had no trouble except for the one flash that messed up. I was left with a large pile of junk on my desk. :pos:
