Is Microsoft blocking Mega email registrations from arriving at Hotmail/Outlook.com accounts?

People who try to register to use the new Mega file-sharing service with Microsoft's Hotmail and Outlook.com email accounts are apparently not getting back their confirmation emails.

Last week, Kim Dotcom launched his new Mega file-sharing service and claimed that the first day it brought in over one million registered users for the successor to MegaUpload. However, it's looking like people who have email accounts on Hotmail and Outlook.com are having issues registering as the emails are disappearing.

Today, Dotcom took to Twitter to state, "Don't use hotmail to register on #Mega. They have mysteriously black holed emails from our domain. Gmail works fine."

We have also received a tip from Neowin reader Drossel who claims he never got his Mega confirmation email from his Outlook.com account. We have contacted Microsoft to confirm if the company is actively blocking email confirmations for Hotmail and Outlook.com addresses or if the emails are being nabbed deep in Microsoft's spam filters.

While Dotcom has yet to give any more information on the numbers of Mega user registrations since the first day of its launch, he did say in a Twitter post this morning that the service has had "tens of millions of files" uploaded to Mega's servers since it went live to the public with only "50 takedown notices received". He also claims that Mega desktop and mobile apps are in development and will be released "ASAP".

Update: Dotcom has made a new Twitter post concerning the Hotmail-Outlook.com situation:

It's a confirmation e-mail. You can't log in if you never click the confirmation link. I was blackholed in this way, myself. Not even in the spam folder, it simply never arrives.

For Outlook.com/Hotmail:

Its better to add mega conformation email[search/ask mega] to non-spam & safe senders list, thereby it may make open to accept emails from them.
