shought
I'm using Comodo Firewall Pro with Defense+ disabled and ESET NOD32 Antivirus. For a week Comodo Firewall will be in training mode and after that you'll only hear from it when new applications try to connect to the internet, I find it working very well.(The problems with ESET's firewall can all be solved, but Comodo's is better anyway, if you need some help in solving them and want to stick to ESET's firewall then tell me :))
manpe
I use Outpost Pro... I recommend it along with Comodo... your choice.
Anteus
I don't use any software firewall just rely on the routers NAT too shield me.Ain't got any AV either, just search with Malwarebytes like once in a month and checks startup items. Never got anything so far on this computer and I've had it for half a year now.

Donaldo
The option to be able to audit outgoing packets is important, especially for us :) :D - many applications tend to phone home. This option is available only to Users with software firewalls.
dumble
That is the only reason for me, i need a simple fw which gives me the option to block outgoing traffic. I have a firewall in my router so no need for another firewall on my computer...
Donaldo
Well, as far as my knowledge serves there's no available router firewall that gives you the option of blocking outgoing traffic. These hardware firewalls will block only incoming traffic . . . . . without intimating you.
Noddy
Generally speaking, Noobies tend to get fed up with the firewall mini-prompt-box nagging every now and then. I've often been requested by many of such of my friends to uninstall the firewall within a weeks time of usage.

These are useful tools which is provided by Windows.

If you have common sense you won't jump when you see the new keygen for windows 8 , or mega windows patcher . It all depends on how safe are you're browsing habits , updated system/programs , but the end the major guilty one is the human factor :bong:

Use Process Explorer to replace Task Manager (Its much precise). Have to agreed on browsing habits though. To use keygen or other cracks, I would strongly suggest using Sandboxie to run it or virtual windows for testing of programs.Never leave anything to chance, always use your head. Most of time, these guys would complain that were getting confused whether to click on 'yes' or 'no' and I would have to uninstall the firewall for them. Yet to find one to my liking. Maybe my expectation is too high, but I found most firewall lacking in some way or the other.
