insanedown58
I have a Windows 7 Ultimate machine and for some reason it always locks up on the Desktop after booting. The gadgets or my shortcuts don't load and the Taskbar is showing all my shortcuts but it shows the blue circle. I have to Hard Reset it a time or two to get my PC working. My PC: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A75M-HD2 (latest BIOS)Processor: AMD A4-5300 3.6 GHzRAM: 2GB Kingston DDR3 1333 Memory (1.46 is for Windows and the rest is for the integrated GPU)
Ryrynz
Does that happen in safe mode?Have you done a Windows memory diagnostic test?
insanedown58
Does that happen in safe mode?Have you done a Windows memory diagnostic test?1 - Nope only in Normal Mode.2 - What's that? I have done both sfc/ scannow and chkdsk on Safe Mode and both came out clean.
jimbojet2011
Hi,It looks like it is something to do with some drivers. Most of the time there drivers from the vga or the network. You say it works in the safe mode ( in these mode only the regular drivers are working )Try to uninstall the vga ( video drivers ) and restart the system.Another thing you can do is to look at the this in safe mode:Go to run and type msconfigThen go to services and startersDisable all starters and restartwhen its ok ( hope so 4 you ) then one of the starters isn't ok.Then return to the steps above 1 by 1 and start the system over and over and figure out wich one is the bada$$Good luck

The problem was still there but the amount of how often it happens decreased. Sometimes it works well but in other times it works like crap and I have to hard reset a time or two. jimbojet2011
Did you do as I told you to disable al the starters? This issue can only be solved when we can find out what the troublemaker is.Another problem is that it increases like you said.I've had a problem once with a acer desktop and the videocard, it was half dead but still working but freezed after a short of working time. And when it works well sometimes it's probably a heating issue otherwise it didn't worked at all

I really don't see why it should do this since this machine is only 2 Weeks old (self-built) and I the guy who gave me the parts knows that they all work in harmony since he does this for a major company in my country. You said that you build it by your own ;-)And I believe that everything went well.Sometimes (and I work for about 10 years on computers now ) there can be a short circuit!A small piece of iron can do the trick. But before tearing it apart, in safe mode it works well and for how long? When it goes well in safe mode en for a long time there must be a conflict with drivers! The way to find out is format the system and install windows again with the minimal of hardware and software.what I mean is just networking, mainboard and video drivers. When that goes well you will find the problem ( write everything down )I assume you use Windows 7 ultimate
spudboy
Go to run and type msconfigThen go to services and startersDid you uncheck the boxes in the services tab as instructed above, or in the startup tab? Because the correct procedure for msconfig is to go to the "Startup" tab and disable everything in that. Not the "Services" tab.
Administrator DKT27 Posted January 24, 2013 Administrator Share Posted January 24, 2013 Does it literally freeze or it's extremely slowed down?
insanedown58
Does it literally freeze or it's extremely slowed down?It literally freezes. It freezes to the point where it can't tell me that explorer.exe crashed and can't kill the process.
insanedown58
Ok I found out what's causing it. My AVR seems to take too long to pump enough juice to the machine because of the "5-Second Safety Delay" feature. After letting it do that for 10 seconds, the PC boots up ok.
