I REALLY need to get this problem fixed and I have already tried 1 thing. What things can be doen to fix this, I'll try anything! I have already checked my router and Im the only one with MY IP. How can I make sure that this gets fixed, permanantly?

More info shall be helpful .

But as a quick thought and "fix it quick" step -- Hard reset your modem or even a soft reset might work !

In the IPv4 settings manually enter the settings and dont click on Automatic settings and use Open DNS or Google or what ever , in other words do not click on Auto DNS .

And you might also want to check your Firewall settings .

And make sure Windows is not connecting to Networks simultaneously i.e two WiFi networks or a WiFi and a LAN network .

These are the steps that i did to resolve this issue i had some time back .

My network is auto configured. It's really wierd...I used a tool to scan for the issue (Wireless Network Watcher) and I found the problem but not the solution. The problem is NOT my computer, but the other computer....the Windows 8. It is supposeldy sometimes holding the same IP as my computer but Im not sure why. Here is some screen shots of a few things, maybe you can figure this out, if this is not enough info, just tell me what else you need:

This happens because you are using LAN connection and some one has the same ip address ... this can be resolve by changing the default gateway :-

Change the value of default gateway i.e. for eg here default gateway is 192.168.1.7 change it to 192.168.1.8

It's possible that this computer uses fixed IP and you're configured to use get the IP automatically. So, you turned on the computer first and got your IP, which he uses as fixed IP. Now, he/she turns on his/hers computer and conflict appears. You can try to configure your adapter to also use fixed IP, use some higher value for last field in IP address.

Cheers ;)

I tried the above configuration, my internet turned off and stayed off. I had to set it back to "Obtain an IP adress automatically" to fix it. What have I done wrong?

Ip address : 192.168.2.2 or 2.3 or 2.5

subnet musk will create automatically

default gateway will be some thing like : 192.168.2.1 or 2 or 3 or 4........

dns server : (use google dns)

preferred dns : 8.8.8.8

alternate dns : 8.8.4.4

@ASIO: That's the wrong field. Don't change default gateway, change "IP Address" field.

@Ambro: Call your ISP and ask what numbers to input there (tell them automatic mode is causing problems).

OK...it happened once again. I went and looked at my Belkin router and some of the lights had just shut off! I currently have 1 desktop, 2 laptops, and 5 cell phones working on my router. Is there some issue with the number of connections that I might need to work out or something??? Im very desperate here....for some reason...it usually only happens when Im playing games or when my friends are playing games (world of warcraft).

My router is:

Belkin Wireless N

Model No: F5D8236-4 Ver. 3

Hard reset the modem !

Set all your computers to Auto get the IP . And all should be fine .

Usually its the duty of the modem to assign a local IP to all the devices connected to it and obviously its modems job to see there are no conflicts .

If its working fine , there should be none .

That is why i say resetting just might work .

Note -- Do it if you know how to configure the modem manually after hard resetting or have ready access to your ISP who can then guide you over a call .

I already hard reset the modem, even set it back to factory default settings. There is no firmware update. I contacted my ISP 3 days ago after I began breaking stuff from frustration (router and modem NOT included in the mayhem) and they said the Modem was not the problem. Ever since this problem began (when I first got my new ISP) it has been a constant problem. The router I'm using I was using before and it was never an issue but now it is. I tried changing my Firewall DMZ settings so that I can pss threw the NAT firewall since I thought maybe this was an issue but that did not help.

I noticed during these times when the router has the lights in the front that turn off, I lose the ability to even connect to the router at all. I am not connected wirelessly, it is a direct connection. When the router loses connectivity, ALL connections go down, including phones. How can I test if my router is bad?

Can you Ping your router ?

I mean does the router respond back to Ping commands ?

If the router is OK and you are connected to it ( Wired or Wireless , eitherway ) it should reply back .

Regardless of the "Internet" status .

Pinging works. Thats not the issue. Im determined to get to the root of the problem, thats just the kind of person I am.
