A few minuets ago, A guest posted a spam (may not be available after a mod gets online) having harmful contents for minors..

I propose, this facility should be terminated ASAP.

If it is true then I agree with you but why should everyone suffer because of one "miscuided" soul?

Nobody would suffer - bonafide guests can always register (we take a serious view of this latest fling at pornography.) ;)

I agree with dcs18..If you love nsane community then you will register and you will post your ideas in a better and convenient way..Guests should just given the chance to explore, not to interact..If something needs to be interacted, you register and become a proud member of the community, that's all.

I agree, as it stands guests can break rules that members can't, just seems like a crazy situation, its not as though there are fees to join.

The reason we allow guests to post in a single forum area is due to possible issues registering.

There is no difference in the rules for anyone - guest, member or staff - everyone needs to abide by the same set of rules.

Perhaps, there could be a facility like when a guest posts, it remains isolated from the forum till it gets approved by a mod or staff..this could be done, I guess -_-

After thinking... The idea is great but if that user wants to spam then all he needs to do is register... then spam away... untill a mod jumps in...

This is life of forums :D

would it be possible to make a sub section "for guests" only seeable by guests so registerd users cant see it.

then atleast you as admins can still help them register?

The idea suggested by me at post #7 would be the best if you think a little deep <_<

If a guests post is moderated hes just gonna take that extra 30 seconds to register and spam anyway.

its not like nsane gets spamed alot the odd one gets through.

Generally, I wouldn't react to Spam as long as it's limited to harmless advertisements - I do report a few, myself. However, once it starts getting vulgar and porno - it's time to come down heavily on the perpetrators. :(

#7 still has a loophole cited by you but that's the best that could be done if Admins allow guests to post..

From what I can understand, it's little harder for spammers to register.

yeah anyway is dead end due to just registering - as its only the odd one every now and again its not harmfull enough.

the present one only got through due to mods not being online... so i guess (if it did get worse) they get seom temp mods onboard

@DKT27

Harder for spam bots - but for a human user just out to spam is what i meant :D

True.

Do note, when mods are online, the average spam thread lasts less than 2 mins. :P

We do. On permission level, Staff = Mods. By mods, I meant basically both staff and mods. :)

I have seen mods removing posts/threads, staff just locks a thread..may be there is something classified between you guys :dunno:

Well, spamming around is something all forums have to face with, sooner or later. And russian ads for where to buy clothes is not something weird B)...

However we need approved guest posting, i think.

Nope. Mods and Staff both remove spam/threads and close threads whenever required. No such limitations.

Registered members with an common sense will see/identify and report such topics very fast and only when no one is around with required permissions, some topics will stay for some time but not for very long. Sooner or later, everything gets closed/removed if it's against any of the rules.

If regular members could delete topics or posts, it won't take long until someone would abuse that ability. :)

i also noticed an increase in guest spamming, which wasn't the case a few years back.

maybe a captcha for guests could be implemented or something random that the guest has to type in before his/her thread is to be published.

Just checked. Guests require to enter captcha even when making posts / topics.

then something like rapidgator

you enter a captcha, then you're given a code that you need to paste into another box or some weird shit that you need to copy/pasta into a field before the thread can be submitted

or threads will need to be manually approved
