Marik
Bring back the Windows Start menu with Start8. Start8 returns the same Windows 7-style Start menu you have depended upon, while adding enhancements just for Windows 8. Quickly access your applications, devices, music, videos and documents the way you always have with Start 8. Features include a Windows 7-style Start menu with Windows 8 enhancements; Search for Windows 8-style (Modern UI) apps; Pin desktop and Metro apps; Boot directly to the Windows 8 desktop; Make the Windows 8 Start screen accessible from the Start menu; Jump List support; Unified Search for apps, settings and files; One click access to shut down, devices, music, documents, and videos. In addition to that, it offers Configurable Start menu size; Clean, streamlined UI; Option to disable the desktop Windows 8 "hot spots"; Changing of "Start" button, and a lot more! Thanks to jofre for the update.Download
Administrator DKT27 Posted January 17, 2013 Administrator Share Posted January 17, 2013 Seeing Start8 is always re-assuring. SIB is based on Windows code, Start8 isn't. Which is great as, incase, in future if SIB stops working, we will still have Start8. :)

jofre
Patch works on my Win8 Pro (Pt) - (32bits) ...and with translucency too ! :) . Now I can say there are two good Win8 Start Menu --» StartIsBack and Stardock Start8.How to :- 1. Install Stardock Start8.2. Keyboard ( Ctrl + Alt + Del) / Task Manager / Stardock Start8 Service --» and with right mouse button - »End Service».3. Go to Tools / Services -» Stardock Start8 --» set the startup type to «Disabled» and reboot computer. 4. Copy the patch to the folder where program was installed and run the patch.( Check if all patched ). 5. Return to Tools / Services and set Stardock Start8 on «Automatic» again. 6. Reboot Computer .That`s all !

jofre
It seems the repacked 1.10 by Painter isn`t in good conditions .I notice after having installed Start8 1.10 I needed to rebook my computer twice in order to reach Windows...soon there will be a new version I guess.
