Defrag problem (hard drive failure?)

Recommended Posts

Yesterday i ran Auslogics Disk Defrag Pro 4.2.1.0 and Perfect Disk 12.5 and they found many "unmovable files" that are not system files, including system files etc. Battlefield 3 files that would usually move. I have checked hard drive S.M.A.R.T. at it's says that it is ok (green). I'he even checked for hard drive bad sectors but the hard drive regenerator didn't find any bad sectors. Is it a hard drive failure, i bought hard drive(Western Digital WDC WD10EARS-00Y5B1) 6 months ago. The temperature of the hard disk is 33 C.

Auslogics Disk Defrag just hangs at 24.67% and won't move(can not move unmovable file), and Perfect Disk is stuck at 1% but when i go to his log it's says unable to move file, skipping-something like that.

I don't know what the problem is. Two weeks before it was working just fine but now problems.

Is there something blocking it from defragging or should i do something in the registry?

your WD hard disk is HEALTHY and the temp of the hdd is also good (33-34)... it is not a hard disk fault but the os fault .... clean install your os ..

note : don"t run 2 Defrag software use only one of them !!!

Maybe that caused the problem, 2 defrag softwares running at the same time

When one is locking a sector and the other is trying to access it will cause a hang in auslogic or PerfectDisk.

Try to disable one of them and check it under the task manager to see it is really successfully closed

run the chosen defrag software and see if it completes its task without hanging.

No, I had Auslogics Disk Defrag Pro then i removed it , and then I installed Perfect Disk.

I have reinstalled my Windows 7 at least 6 or more time by now and same result.

It would also benefit to run a command-line check disk (at least) on your C:\ volume.

Who to do that?

Who to do that?

Run a elevated Command Prompt (C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe) and then type/copy the following command:-
ChkDsk C: /f /r
The above command assumes that your system is installed on the C:\ volume - if not, make changes accordingly.

hm!!! maybe some sector failure, then you must boot with HDD.Regenerator.2011 CD and wait, that's the best recommendation I can give you.

I guess You have to try the TWO recommendations, best answers for your issue IMO

NB: You should scan all the partitions for ChkDsk trick, because the issue maybe be in one of the partitions u have not necessary C
