Can't update Acrobat XI pro

Recommended Posts

Hello people,

i am unable to update Adobe Acrobat XI pro using the following update:

http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.01/misc/AcrobatUpd11001.msp

I get the following error on each time(as shown in attachement)

I have uninstalled using total uninstall ,run ccleaner, and tried the update on fresh install but keep getting the same error.

Same happens with applying the repair from the acrobat installer itself.

I am on windows 8 mce 64 bit .

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance.

Suggestion: Try using ADOBE ACROBAT XI PRO MULTI-XFORCE instead of pact-MPT.

Hi Levo,

I am not sure if this is Acrobat XI's bug or Win8 incompatibility because I have experienced similar issue.

After installing it without any crack or activation yet, it somehow changed the user privilege on my Win8 64-bit (of course I am the admin).

I have to run .exe or .msi files as administrator by right-clicking everytime; double-clicking on these files will get error during extraction. Reimaging my partition and testing it again, the problem is the same. Installation and update of Acrobat XI work perfectly on my XP 32-bit.

So, you might want to run the update as administrator to see if it works. I still hestitate to install Acrobat XI on my Win8 now.

after activate like the instructions here I have no problems when I updated it, I use Windows 8 x86

used the same method but I am on 64 bit.

Installing after taking ownership also does not work.

ok folks,

After bit of google headbanging I finally go it solved.

You need to add the permissions for your windows account (local or microsoft one) to the permissions on temp folder to make it work.

Really strange cos you first log into one of these in the first place. But simply taking ownership of temp folder does not work.

Just adding the local account and taking full control of the c/users/username/Appdata/local/temp folder works.

Thanks for all the help.
