Hello Friends.

I have been working on cracking Diskeeper 2012 (properly) for the longest while and today I hit a road block. I attempted to install the program once more, after thougoughly cleaning all remains and rebooting twice, when the following error persisted in keeping me from installing:

image.png

Being aware that stuff like this does happen :dunno: I rebooted, did a junk file and registry cleanup and tried to install again. Same error.

image.png

Can anyone tell me what is wrong here and/or what I can do to remove the <<needsreboot>> flag and/or where the registry key or file to delete is located?

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks
:beg:

Edit: Problem Solved.

I feel extremely stupid right now...

As long as that file exists the error will keep showing. All user accounts will share the same C: drive. The file monitor thing is truly a blessing! Advanced users like myself need those kinda tools. Problem solved. :showoff:

u can try install DK 2011 overwrite DK 2012 missing. iam not sure it work

So far I have uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller Pro, done a registry cleanup with Advanced System Care Ultimate "Deep Clean on," manually searched and deleted any and all occurences of "Diskeeper" and "Condusiv" all to no avail.

Similar problem occurs when I try to install ANY older version.

Absolutely no idea. Weird stuff :o But just out of curiosity - hard boot or restart? Try hard re-booting maybe :dunno:

Clear CMOS (physical battery removal) if nothing else works :P If it still doesn't work, re-install Windows. Problem solved :lmao:

/ Bad joke :P :spank:

first things first... befor you think of formatting...

create a second profile and try installing

if it installs on the new created profile then that confirms a little more that something is left behind or broken.

Go to 'Add or remove programs' and uninstall ExpressCache - don't use any third party uninstallers!!!

Reboot and then report back.

1- Win + R > type "regedit" > enter > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE> Look for DISKEEPER FOLDER (it may be called 'CONDUSIV") and delete it

2- HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Look for Diskeeper folder and delete it (if found)

3- HKEY_USERS> .DEFAULT> Software> Look for Diskeeper folder and delete it (if found)

3- Look for Diskeeper Folder in Program Files and delete it too

4- Try Installing Diskeeper and see if it works :)

Try with this utility from Microsoft. Remove Diskeeper from the list if available. Also, never use third-party uninstaller for removing Diskeeper.

Cheers ;)

I'm suppose that you don't recomend Total Uninstall also?

Many times TU was helpful in my case.

Please explain why not using third-party uninstaller...

Thanks mara!

Because I sow multiple complaints where people used third-party uninstaller for removing Diskeeper and had some issues with their systems. With any program, you should use it's uninstaller and then you can use some third-party uninstaller to remove something that is left behind.

Cheers ;)

Ok, I've tried everyone's suggestion. Problem still persists. Diskeeper and Condusiv is nowhere to be found in the registry or in my AppData, Common Files, or Program Files. I even repaired the MSI cache. Where on earth is the flag that is keeping me from installing???!

I really need to get this done. I was SO close to making a patch!! Just one more jump needed then this happened :(

Tried powering off, removing the battery and the CMOS battery, holding down the power button for 15 seconds... same problem. Thanks for the idea.

first things first... befor you think of formatting...

create a second profile and try installing

To me this made a very valid point. I tried making a new profile and logging off, restarting and logging in with the new one... Same error that a restart is needed.

Go to 'Add or remove programs' and uninstall ExpressCache - don't use any third party uninstallers!!!

Reboot and then report back.

I do not seem to have ExpressCache installed. It is not available as a program to uninstall. The uninstaller I used, calls the original uninstaller from the program, then after that is finished uninstalling, does a registry and disk scan for leftovers. It it REVO uninstaller PRO. Very trusted uninstaller.

3- Look for Diskeeper Folder in Program Files and delete it too

4- Try Installing Diskeeper and see if it works :)

I have done all this already. Made a double check and all the leftovers seem to be gone from registry, AppData and Common Files. Don't know where the reboot flag could be :dunno:

Utility did not find anything wrong. I really hoped this would work. I really don't wanna uninstall my Genuine OEM OS! :(

A registry / file monitor is definitely THE way to go to figure out where the registry entry or file is lurking that is causing you grief. Over the years I've had to break out something occasionally to watch a program install its files and registry entires to figure out why I can't play doctor and apply medicine to a problem <wink>. There is the occasional annoying program that will drop reg entries and / or files whose names you would miss because they have strange names or are in an odd place on your system. I've seen files stuffed virtually everywhere by programs to try and trip people up. Somewhere a programmer is snickering right now. Evil person! hahaha. Just kidding.... now you have me wanting to install DK on a clean system and debug it (grin). Then there's PerfectDisk 12.5 .. just saying ... :-)

Utility isn't suppose to find anything wrong. You should use it to remove Diskeeper, if this utility displays it on the list. Is Diskeeper showed on the list?

Cheers ;)

From the error message, I take it that re-installing and then uninstalling again is out of question (me-Einstein :P )

Check if Dkservice.exe and other DK services (if any) are disabled/deleted in services.msc. :dunno:

But as a really lengthy workaround to this really annoying problem, can you install the same version of Windows of the same bitness (I take it that you're on Win7 64 bit) and the monitor the DK installation on your new installation with Total Uninstall (the best monitor that I know of, but obviously, I'm no expert). Maybe then, you can use the log file to check all of those entries and file/folder/registry etc. locations on your *real* installation and maybe you'll get rid of it

Dunno, just throwing stones in the dark - extremely time consuming and annoying process, but just maybe worth a try as a last ditch effort before you have to re-install your working installation :(

Try downloading jv16 Power Tools 2013. It has registry search tool. Just click on registry search tool and type Diskeeper.

Have you tried any of the File/Registry monitors from SysInternals? monitoring the installer might indicate where it's looking to find the flag that kicks up the error.

Process Monitor (that combines the File and Registry monitors) can be downloaded for free from here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/bb896645

Now this seems promising. I will try it and get the results back to you.

Very evil person in Condisiv is sitting and laughing right now. I had PerfectDisk 12.5 installed. But I decided to work on Diskeeper 2012 since nobody seems to be cracking it, even though we need this program.

Diskeeper was not listed in the files/programs found, neither for install nor for uninstall :dunno:

:o wow, well I'll attempt that as a last resort. I don't think it will work though, because the flag is set in a unique CLSID for each different system.

I have used many programs to extensively search the registry and have totally eliminated ALL instances or keys relating to "diskeeper" and "condusiv" from the registry. Thanks for suggestion though.

I am working on cracking this program especially for guys like you who NEED the software to complete their systems. I mean, why can NO ONE, even the skilled hackers we have today, make a keygen and patch for this program?

I would like to post an advice but all my best shot idea have already been suggested. ;)

Here are some I think not been suggested yet or you may not have done

1. Try to install your version of Diskeeper on a virtual os like a win7 on a virtualbox.

If it has the same error then your copy might be the problem and not some old auditing registry data/file junk left from previously uninstalled copy

2. Try to run a new trial version copy and see if it will install in your system.

If it does install and ran with no problem then uninstall it using its own uninstaller, reboot and try to install your copy of diskeeper.

See if it will still suffer the same error.

3. Try this Microsoft Installation Fix it utility in addition to mara's suggestion. I don't know if they were the same.

If everything fails try to stop and take a rest. This  or this :pizza: or this :stereo: or this

It might be you overworked yourself. :showoff:

I usually do this and when I got back things where much clearer to me. 8) :pos:

It's not the same tool. And I must say, excellent find kenmelagi.

@Avitar

Try with this tool. If Diskeeper is not on the list, select Not Listed, then you will be prompted to enter product code, something like that, you can try to find out which is it, by using ORCA tool, open MSI installer of Diskeeper and search for it.

Cheers ;)
