Administrator DKT27 Posted January 5, 2013 Administrator Share Posted January 5, 2013 On a side note, I remember, on Windows 7 or 8, I don't quite remember, the Windows Firewall used to get re-activated itself. I came to know about when one of my software wasn't connecting to the net. All this, inspite of me using Comodo FW and Windows being well aware about it. calguyhunk
I have dual boot where W7 as default OS but sometime after turn PC on, W8 take over boot option without notice and direct to log in.You'll have to disable Fast Boot for that. Go to "Power Options" > Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" > Scroll to the bottom of the page and under "Shutdown settings", un-check the "Turn on fast startup" box, and click on "Save changes".That's it. Hope that helps you :D

calguyhunk
does anybody else have this problem, as in win8 won't let you disable auto-updates? :think:Disables just fine. But the first time 'round, it did re-enable itself automatically without any 3rd party software tweaks or anything  Since then though, it's been a good boy :Pfirst thing I have to do when log into W8 is check update setting or services related,. very annoyed.Did you disable Fast Boot from Control Panel > Power Options as I had suggested for the dual boot issue? :think:As for auto-updates re-enabling, make sure you don't have automatic maintenance enabled in any 3rd party software like Tune-up or anything :dunno:Also, disable "Automatic Maintenance" through Task Scheduler and also in Action Center. ;)
sirri
Did you disable Fast Boot from Control Panel > Power Options as I had suggested for the dual boot issue?I already did.As for auto-updates re-enabling, make sure you don't have automatic maintenance enabled in any 3rd party software like Tune-up or anythingThis time,I don't have any 3rd party tune-up suite. I want make W8 as natural as should be. since I found everything run faster and smooth. I just run CCleaner once a week. Also, disable "Automatic Maintenance" through Task Scheduler and also in Action Centeralso already did. But disable "Auto Maintenance" was useless coz it will re-enable after restart the system. So, I much prefer to delete all task about maintenance from Task Scheduler
sirri
workaround above seem works.. after 2 days,I haven't notice update setting re-enable by it self. thank to Calguyhunk :wub:Addition : I prefer to delete automatic maintenance from task scheduler than disable
