You can always use hosts to block the website.
You might also try and reinstall comodo firewall just in case your install messed up somewhere. This happened to me before.

I personally prefer Outpost, tried comodo at least once year and same issues always present themselves.. buggy.. blocks stuff it hasnt been told to, without giving an option or alert and doesnt show that it's blocked anything in its own logs, or it doesnt block something it should.

Please share your experience of Outpost firewall. Is it light on the system? What about I/O usage?

Runs sweet as a nut, its service uses about 40mb of mem and interface about 30mb (working set). I/O is minimal.. i've only seen it at around 1-2% but may run higher. Seems to have no adverse affect on my system performance (using Win 8, running at 4.7ghz with 8gb mem).

Happy new year all btw.

My PC hates comodo, and I hate Comodo for hating my PC. :P I've tried having it around for years, to no avail. Bloat, bloat, bloat, slow, slow, slow, slow, then reboot. Every time. That is if I can install it without a BSOD. Even on a freshly installed XP. So I said, screw it, let's go with Malware Defender! It's like having God on your PC. Hell, it's like being God in your PC. Outpost firewall is really good too , a lot less bloated than Comodo is (Geek Buddy , Comodo Dragon etc etc).

However it uses more Ram than Comodo , and this days with a minimum of 4 GB of Ram for most users , that's ok , really.

Once "debloated" , Comodo is nice ^_^

Interesting post, makes me curious indeed:

I use Online Armor free - and it is essentially unsupported.

It gave me some bad headaches and I had to disable parts of it - and asked at their forum - and got zero reply.

There's plenty of info about MD for folks interested in it, but no manual and it is primarilly for Chinese folks, I guess:

And a 27 page thread last posted to in 2011, here:

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=267680

The opinions I see seem to indicate that it is very good, BUT that a firewall is also needed as it is a HIPS.

That said=> how do you use it instead of a firewall Alanon ??

I got OA to use as both firewall and HIPS, and now I am disappointed so will probably yank it out and get something better...

@ those who find COMODO is bloated. :)

Remember COMODO offers one the option right at the beginning of the installation process, to choose what modules are to be installed. I personally, opt exclusively for the firewall module. B)

It's not wise to install everything just because it's available and then try to disable what you don't want. <_<

Online Armor is a good piece of software... that always lead to a decrease in page load speed. O.o Only reason I can think why i dumped it. Oh, and at the time I was using it, it was butt-ugly. xD

As far as MD, it goes like this - Windows for inbound, MD for outbound, with an extra precaution - never trust anything in MD internet-wise (except your browser, and then only with SB), and you're golden. It'll pop up once every 10 minutes with a connection request. I know that I've no business having an untrusted connection to an address in Malaysia while I'm not browsing the Web, so I don't let it connect. Never had an issue with this method. The rules function perfectly, you can trust your 3rd party software easily, avoiding pop-ups. MD is guaranteed to pop-up with a new app running. It'll manage auto-start, tasks, network ports... but it's made to be shy. You need to know your system and what normally goes on in it, to be able to see the abnormality and kill it.

While I'm certain that now they've made their fair share of advancements, at the time I tried to use it, nothing good ever came out of it. Sometimes, it even refused to connect! Suit or firewall, my PC was allergic. But the real deal-breaker was me writing support and being blown-off like a maggot.

Therefore, to each his own. ;)

If someone is really intrigued about MD, feel free to say so - I'll be glad to help you set it up.

While I'm certain that now they've made their fair share of advancements,

Nope, to the contrary - this individual module installation arrangement was available right from XP days..

Using Outpost too, for 2 reasons :

- lifetime license :) (you can still get one until ... tonight !)

- low on resources

- as good as comodo, and alerts are more understandable than comodo when facing a problem

check here : http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge-64/results.php

Give me one.

Really? Well that explains a whole lot. I haven't been able to pinpoint why Comodo behaves so badly on my PC time and time again. If they haven't done any changes, well, I guess my first impression was right. My PC hates Comodo. XD All the more reason for me to steer clear from it. :D

Nay, you misunderstood - not referring to advancements in any other areas (which has always been in keeping with the times) - but, with specific reference to the myth of COMODO being perceived to be bloated. The feature (of independent-module-installation that you were presuming as an advancement has been available right from the days when I was using XP which is a fairly long time ago. :)

BTW, if I were you I'd not rest until I ironed out the gremlin of conflict completely from the system. 8)

Hell, my machine is so old now, it probably has dynasties of gremlins in there by now. I intend to ride the old bastard till it's dead, and then... when every Tom, Dick and Hary get their tablets and Iphones, and prices drop... then will I buy a shiny new PC and fill it to the brim with games I never got to play (seriously, I have a list)... I hope I don't die of happiness when that happens. Tears of joy are springing here. :drunk: :drunk:

Meaning, all this - not while I'm at University. I assume when I get new hardware, means no gremlins and since I'll probably get x64, I'll get to testing new security software... and what the hell, Comodo'll get there.

As far as the advancement goes, I've always installed firewall only (wasn't there a separate download on Comodo's website, the firewall?), and it always gave me crap. One time I tried the Suite thing (I'm thinking... v. 4???), total screw up, had to get into Debug mode to release my sobbing PC.

Meh, who knows.
