Sonar
Has anyone encounted any slowdowns or lag with adblock installed? If i remove adblock my firefox seems to run normal but if i install adblock my firefox seems to be slugish. It never used to do this - this on a clean install (ccleaner)(speedyfox) have been run. This was also happening on windows 8 aswell as windows 7 that im on now.I only ever had 1 list active but both suffer the slugishness.Easylist & Fanboys list,Editfirefox 18 beta 6 (but happens on 17 aswell)the only other addons i use is noscript / lastpass. Knightmare
Then again, I'm using version 17.0.1 so maybe it's a compatibility issue that will be fixed. :dunno:

dcs18
No issues here, either - using the very latest Adblock + 2.2.2.a.3604 on the V20 and V18.0b6.But, need a clarification - where is the sluggishness being experienced:-in loading of pages orstartup/shutdown of Firefox? The above-mentioned points are two completely different things. T0nyB
When I use to surf the web with Firefox, I used AdBlock Edge (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-edge/) instead of AdBlock Plus and it works just fine with that.Didn't notice much of a slowdown and it doesn't make compromises with the ads (you know what I mean), like AdBlock Plus does. :) From my past experience I can say though, that AdBlock Plus did slow Firefox a bit, though, but doesn't every add-on we install? It's a compromise we'll have to accept when we want to use some add-ons...But now that I use Google Chrome, I use AdBlock. So I can't test it out too. Don't wanna slow my system down by installing Firefox too to test it out...Hope the info was helpful. :)

Sonar
In ABP options, UN-check 'show tabs on flash and java'.did try that - thinking it was tampering with flash but still the same issue - thats the only option really to play with.Even if i use "disable on this page" firefox is still slugish around flash games (Facebook).I'm happy with adban - its alot lighter then adblock and no popups have came yet. Personally, pages with flash content are loading more swiftly with ADP+ for me.

robertcollier4
I found AdBlock Plus to slow down both Firefox and Chrome. They also use a ton of memory since they are having to load the whole sandbox process container (plugin-container). It would be much better if the adblocking was implemented at a lower level in the renderer itself.SRWare Iron Portable (author site / author portable download / PortableApps.com download) is a Chromium rebuild which has a built-in adblocker implemented at the renderer level via a single file adblock.ini. No slowdown at all with SRWare Iron built in adblocker. It seems to catch most everything. The portable version from PortableApps.com uses the same Data directory as Chrome Portable - so you can move your settings between Chrome and Iron - and they are the exact same Chromium base.http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1459SRWare Iron is a privacy-enhanced web browser based on chromium, which is the open-source project behind Google Chrome. By default, Iron sends out less information compared to Chrome (e.g. creating a unique user ID or the submission of entries to Google to generate suggestions), which makes it potentially more private and secure in operation. Supports both official and unofficial themes and some Chrome extensions. To block malicious ad servers, add adblock.ini to the "Iron" program folder. Here is the location for getting adblock.ini from Fanboy for SRWare Iron:http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/iron/ Although fanboy claimed that he might stop updating the list for Iron and that you could use the Opera list instead in Iron, the Iron list is pretty up-to-date as of 11 Oct 2012
SacredCultivator
Using Adblock Edge as recommended by T0nyB. Seems pretty good. The memory usage to me at least is only about 10,000K lower than using AdBlockPlus. Will probably continue using AdBlock Edge if anything unless there's a better alternative (Extension). Dunnno why I'm not too fond of using a program.
demoneye
since adblock edge deliver same as ADBP , i will give it a ride , till now its seems running ok , same functionality as his older brother ADBP.
Sonar
Ill give adblock edge a try and see if i still face the slow downs.
Knightmare
You could try installing Memory Fox. This would help with lowering the memory used by add-ons and the browser itself.
