HELP BIOS Breaks after Windows 7 Install

Ok its the HDD. I removed it and everything worked. I managed to get through. Now, when I put in the HDD I don't know what's happening because I think I once again messed something up so I'm gonna try and fix it. While I'm doing that, how can I fix the HDD issue?

Are you able to enter the BIOS without the HDD - if yes, you can change the boot order to CD/DVD, first and then install the HDD to boot with your partition management CD to format and re-partition your HDD to accept a fresh Windows 7 installation.

The idea is to get rid of your corrupt MBR.

So the I fix the MBR. Now how do I format it?

easiest way to "fix" your HD:

Download and install Ubuntu on a USB drive (or CD if you can not boot with a USB)

Install Ubuntu using the custom install feature

Find your bad hard drive. Let Ubuntu unpartition all of the partitions that my or may not be on the hard drive.

Let Ubuntu put a FAT32 partition on that hard drive.

Turn off the computer and Put in your Windows 7 install CD

Do a custom install with Windows 7 and let its install remove all partitions on the hard drive and install its OS.

Run as normal

Ok I saw the problem, the cord of my HDD got cut cleanly so there's no way of just peeling off the rubber part then just re-joining them. Where can I buy HDD cords?

Hi,

Man, check if your BIOS option for SATA are correct (AHCI Mode), i have been the same issue like you 2 years ago, i don't renember exactly what's fix my issue, but something to do with the SATA option in the BIOS....

@ pekahman

The issue is resolved - check back a couple of posts before you - the OP did not realize that his problem was simply due to a severed HDD cable, until troubleshooting advanced deeper than 2 pages into this thread.

If you check even further back, you'll spot someone blissfully unaware that MBRs are the first root-cause while troubleshooting startup hiccups and seldom fail to be over-written during upgrades & downgrades. ^_^
