Shouldn't actually matter though. If something like Firefox isn't using it, then Windows is using it for caching. On 4GB RAM, gone those days where I use to monitor it's RAM usage and worry about it.

I'm actually forcing FF to use as much as possible of RAM, because my HDD is kinda crappy, and here SDD is 30% more expensive than in USA.

But slow startups, often crashes and hangs, in stable editions, are things I was hoping they were gonna fix.

I see, you can try RAMDisk and see.

Startup speed was increased drastically in version 16-17 or something, check the addons if they are slowing things down. Crashes and hangs are more related to Flash, etc.

Never tried RAMDisk.

My way to do it:

browser.cache.disk.enable to False

browser.cache.memory.enable to True

browser.cache.memory.capacity to -1 (sometimes I set manual value 24576)
