Java Runtime Environment 7 Update 10

Recommended Posts

The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) provides the libraries, the Java Virtual Machine, and other components to run applets and applications written in the Java programming language. In addition, two key deployment technologies are part of the JRE: Java Plug-in, which enables applets to run in popular browsers; and Java Web Start, which deploys standalone applications over a network. Users should install the 32-bit version if they are using 32-bit browsers. If you use both 32-bit and 64-bit browser interchangeably, you need a Java Plug-in for each browser. Hence you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java respectively.

I got to ask anyone has issues with java in windows 8 pro 64 bit?

I couldn't get java 7 build 9 or even now build 10 to work with my browsers IE10 & Firefox17.0.1.

I even did clean uninstall java and then use javara and reboot then install either or both java 32 & 64 bits then reboot again.

It is either http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp?detect=jre going on forever or http://javatester.org/version.html ClassNotFoundException

Thanks a lot.. so many new stuff today!! ^_^

As I mentioned, it's patch tuesday today. It's a day that comes on the second tuesday of every month, when Microsoft releases new Windows Updates. Not so long ago, both Adobe and Oracle decided to follow it and they all release security fixes today.

After installing the last version of Java my jDownloader stop running. It says that requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.

Edit: I had to get back to the version 7 Update 9 to make the program work again.

Hmmn. Great new security tab, but too little too late I fear...

It's early days for any feedback, but on Windows 8 I first set the security settings to maximum. I then had to lower these to the defaults and disable Java in each browser individually as I used to before, in order to get anything workable.

Java/Oracle on the way out methinks, lol...

No issues on Win 8 Pro 64 bit running latest Java 7 U10 from first link with opening up jDownloader 0.18.998 or jDownloader 2 (Build Tues Dec 11 23:34:58 CET 2012).

Erm so this Java 7U10 is still beta not official stable?

Thanks for the info. Didn't know/notice that. :) Will keep at high and see.

This is final/stable/official. Java just offers update to v6 (old version) too.

I see, thanks for clarification. I asked because I still see at http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp showing Java 7U9 despite http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html showing Java 7U10

Seems it was the *very* high security settings giving me the grief.

That and unchecking the option to enable Java content in my browser caused some very counter-intuitive results at first...

High settings and disabling each plugin seems to work fine on Windows 7 as well, but then again I don't use IE!
