Gaming Error

I've noticed that my Sims 3 game crashes randomly whenever I'm playing. Sometimes I can play 1 hour before the crash happens and other times it will happen within 15 minutes of playing. When I look at the event viewer, it says this:

I didn't have this happen on my old computer so I'm wondering if it's hardware related. I've tried rolling back the graphics driver but that did not seem to help. I read here that the issue could be with the RAM, which doesn't excite me, but I'm hoping that there is another solution to the issue. I am able to playing another one of my games just fine. It's relatively new as well, but I don't know how much computer resources that it demands.

Looks like a DirectX issue to me - I'd try a re-install (it's quite a minor installation.) :think:

I also had this error in my event viewer:

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

I ran the fix for this error, but haven't tested the game. I am in the process of downloading DirectX. I'll report back with the results.

check if faulting module is still same as before..maybe you need to delete and copy back that dll file

or you can try put the dll into sim 3 folder

It won't let me delete the file, since it's in system32 folder.

It's not the System 32 folder that's preventing the delete - it's the fact that it's already in use (UnLocker will be able to get the job done.) ;)

Not yet. I did a complete uninstall of the game because I wasn't sure if the patched files were causing the issue. I used the ultimate fix on all of the game exe files so I didn't know if that would cause a problem or not. Apparently, my Sims 3 Supernatural has to be installed from the rar file because if it isn't, I get a CRC Error.

What is the latest expansion pack and update patch you have installed?

Supernatural and prior ran without issue. Seasons has given me grief with mods.

I've been hoping for an update from Electronic Arts, as I think the crashing issue lies with them.

I'm not a gamer and need my daughter to run the game for a while to see if this recent update cures the issues.

I groan when she calls from the other room!

What is the latest expansion pack and update patch you have installed?

I have the latest patch (1.42 something) and all of the expansions except for the Katie Perry one. Adding all of the files will take awhile. Is there a shortcut I don't know about?

I can't explain it either. I just know during that error, you're supposed to install the game from somewhere on the hard drive, not from the disc. I tried installing from the desktop but it didn't work either, so I tried opening the rar in WinRAR and running the setup. That ended up working for me.

I decided to create this topic to show you how to install The Sims 3 correctly.

If you do it this way, you'll automatically have the latest version of the game and everything should work fine.

The steps aren't hard to understand, just READ CAREFULLY!

So, this is what you should do (Don't do anything else, just do EXACTLY as written below):

1. Install The Sims 3 and all expansions you like, but install AT LEAST one of the following expansions:

Seasons, Supernatural, Diesel Stuff, Katy Perry Sweet Treats, Showtime, Master Suite Stuff, Pets, Town Life Stuff, Generations.*

(You may skip all the "# Crack" folders.

You DO NOT need to use any "# Crack" folders!)

2. After you've installed all the games you want, download and apply this manual patch:

--The Sims 3 Town Life Stuff

--The Sims 3 Pets Expansion Pack

--The Sims 3 Master Suite Stuff

--The Sims 3 Supernatural Expansion Pack

-Apply the update patch

-Apply the crack

-Run the game

Sound like plan? I really think I've done this and got the CRC error, but I'll try again.

Don't forget to add your executables to DEP list.

When you finally run the game launcher, click on 'Game Updates' button.

I believe there is a store content update. Click yes to Install it.

You should be fine now.

There should be no CRC errors.

Perhaps disable UAC, and Antivirus during your installations.
