Knightmare
I've noticed that my Sims 3 game crashes randomly whenever I'm playing. Sometimes I can play 1 hour before the crash happens and other times it will happen within 15 minutes of playing. When I look at the event viewer, it says this:Faulting application name: TS3W.exe, version: 0.2.0.190, time stamp: 0x50653464Faulting module name: d3d9.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7b7b3Exception code: 0xc0000005Fault offset: 0x000510f6Faulting process id: 0xa34Faulting application start time: 0x01cdd632471c6dfcFaulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exeFaulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\d3d9.dllReport Id: e57056f2-4228-11e2-83fb-005056c00008I didn't have this happen on my old computer so I'm wondering if it's hardware related. I've tried rolling back the graphics driver but that did not seem to help. I read here that the issue could be with the RAM, which doesn't excite me, but I'm hoping that there is another solution to the issue. I am able to playing another one of my games just fine. It's relatively new as well, but I don't know how much computer resources that it demands.
dcs18
Looks like a DirectX issue to me - I'd try a re-install (it's quite a minor installation.)
Knightmare
I also had this error in my event viewer: Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. I ran the fix for this error, but haven't tested the game. I am in the process of downloading DirectX. I'll report back with the results.
Knightmare
I installed DirectX and the game played out longer than it ever has but crashed after 45 minutes of playing. :(
unknownasphyxiated
check if faulting module is still same as before..maybe you need to delete and copy back that dll fileor you can try put the dll into sim 3 folder
Knightmare
It won't let me delete the file, since it's in system32 folder.
dcs18
It's not the System 32 folder that's preventing the delete - it's the fact that it's already in use (UnLocker will be able to get the job done.) ;)
dcs18
I installed DirectX and the game played out longer than it ever has but crashed after 45 minutes of playing. :( Did you try adding the following file to the DEP exclusion list:- C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe
Knightmare
Not yet. I did a complete uninstall of the game because I wasn't sure if the patched files were causing the issue. I used the ultimate fix on all of the game exe files so I didn't know if that would cause a problem or not. Apparently, my Sims 3 Supernatural has to be installed from the rar file because if it isn't, I get a CRC Error.
dcs18
What I pointed out is a known issue.

FreeRyde
Start there.Add ALL of the .exe files from each 'Game\Bin' folder in your main Sims game, expansion Packs, and Stuff Packs.Tedious I know, but try it.If that doesn't help...Run the Sims 3 launcher and allow installation of the latest update.I just checked. There was one available for me.No luck? Check 'Run without custom content'.See if that helps. What is the latest expansion pack and update patch you have installed?Supernatural and prior ran without issue. Seasons has given me grief with mods.I've been hoping for an update from Electronic Arts, as I think the crashing issue lies with them.I'm not a gamer and need my daughter to run the game for a while to see if this recent update cures the issues.I groan when she calls from the other room! Adding all of the files will take awhile. Is there a shortcut I don't know about?

Open the "# Crack" folder in the Ultimate Fix download and drag & drop the .exe and .dll file to: C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 3\Game\Bin only . That's in the base game only. I install all Sims 3 expansion packs from disc image; whether it be from Games4theworld or Reloaded. Sims 3 Supernatural does not have to be installed from the rar file. never heard of that. There is something wrong if you are getting CRC errors.

Sims 3 Supernatural does not have to be installed from the rar file. never heard of that. There is something wrong if you are getting CRC errors.I can't explain it either. I just know during that error, you're supposed to install the game from somewhere on the hard drive, not from the disc. I tried installing from the desktop but it didn't work either, so I tried opening the rar in WinRAR and running the setup. That ended up working for me. FreeRyde
Post by Admin Games4theworld Updated on: 14-11-2012I decided to create this topic to show you how to install The Sims 3 correctly. If you do it this way, you'll automatically have the latest version of the game and everything should work fine. The steps aren't hard to understand, just READ CAREFULLY!So, this is what you should do (Don't do anything else, just do EXACTLY as written below):1. Install The Sims 3 and all expansions you like, but install AT LEAST one of the following expansions:Seasons, Supernatural, Diesel Stuff, Katy Perry Sweet Treats, Showtime, Master Suite Stuff, Pets, Town Life Stuff, Generations.*(You may skip all the "# Crack" folders. You DO NOT need to use any "# Crack" folders!)2. After you've installed all the games you want, download and apply this manual patch:Site: http://akamai.cdn.ea.comCode: /eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/TS3_1.42.130.0190xx_update.exe3. When it finished updating your game to the latest version, download the latest version of our Ultimate Fix:Site: http://games4theworld.bestgoo.comCode: /t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems4. Open the "# Crack" folder in the Fix and drag & drop the .exe and .dll file to: C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 3\Game\Bin and choose "Replace" on the pop-up that appears, telling you the files already exist in that folder.Extra note: all those folders in the Fix ARE NOT cracks, those are the original files needed to update the game, without getting the "Invalid File" error. The only crack needed are the .dll and the .exe file in the "# Crack" folder.

Knightmare
All right, so here's what I'm going to do: -Install all of the games that I want in the following order (everything except the Katie Perry expansion) and apply updates when prompted by each game: --The Sims 3 Base Game --The Sims 3 World Adventures Expansion Pack --The Sims 3 High End Loft Stuff --The Sims 3 Ambitions Expansion Pack --The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff --The Sims 3 Late Night Expansion Pack --The Sims 3 Outdoor Living Stuff --The Sims 3 Generations Expansion Pack --The Sims 3 Town Life Stuff --The Sims 3 Pets Expansion Pack --The Sims 3 Master Suite Stuff --The Sims 3 Showtime Expansion Pack --The Sims 3 Katy Perry Sweet Treats --The Sims 3 Diesel Stuff --The Sims 3 Supernatural Expansion Pack --The Sims 3 Seasons -Apply the update patch -Apply the crack -Run the game Sound like plan? I really think I've done this and got the CRC error, but I'll try again.
FreeRyde
Don't forget to add your executables to DEP list. When you finally run the game launcher, click on 'Game Updates' button.I believe there is a store content update. Click yes to Install it.You should be fine now. There should be no CRC errors.Perhaps disable UAC, and Antivirus during your installations.
