style
Bitdefender is the best but consume more resources, I use kaspersky .... I stole viruses with ESET's proactive detection .. not good ... so ... best antivirus user!

dcs18
now I'm changing to EAV :lol:That's the right way to go - I'm shocked at the n00b advice that many have offered at this thread. B)However, if you're really interested in personal growth in the domain of computing - forget all about suites (except for the tried-and-tested KIS, all the rest are bird-shit.) If you'd like to get onto the next level - employ standalone applications (just an heads-up.) ;)

tezza
EAV + CFW, Never run 2 AV progs together. What about with Eset Smart + Webroot ??The only compatibility issue that could happen would be if the HIPS specifically in ESET prompts you to allow or block something Webroot is doing, which in that case allow should be chosen. Though this is unlikely as since they spend a lot of time making sure these conflicts don't happen.

Airstream_Bill
Howdy SONE ForeverThere aint no such thing as best av or isJust keep away from bad sites is the best first step you can do.If you mean a good suite and above all for free:I use zonealarm firewall with AV ( with the AV engine of kaspersky ) its a good and effective suite.Thats my opinion but there are several Free suites and a very good 1 of them is:http://www.comodo.com/ is still version 5 ( i'm waiting for the 6 version ( is now in Beta stage )In your technical specifics I do not see your memory ( but with your spec I think its enough ) to handle most of the suites.Good luck with your choiceJJGood news, Ananda.I know that , there is no best av or is, but best approach may be :DI don't like free av bcoz no support/low support for it, different for paid av.Sorry, RAM is 2 GB, :DIs comodo good ? Hmm,, can i make it full version for free ? :DPrivatefirewall 7 should be considered.. It is better than good and Free also. Very light on system resources.Yes Comodo is the best firewall I no about. If you know how to block or ad programs in the firewall you can Use Zonealarm.Comodo is a good option ( but AV isnt good so you can use the firewall and combine it with Avast or Avira or PandaThere'll all free and you don't need support ( they do the work for you )Laterrrrrrrr

SkyrimGuy
CFW followed closely by OA. Zonealarm isn't bad but its realy heavy and uses a ton of memory. Private firewall is a close 3rd.

ffi
The top antivirus products differ little in performance/detection/removal between each other but when it comes to firewall performance it's a whole different matter. Their aren't many good firewall around really and only one AV combines with a good firewall in a suite: Kaspersky. I believe it is much lighter and secure to use a suite than stand alone products because both firewalls and antivirusses use a lot of low level drivers (most firewalls and antivirusses have hips modules which could potentially interact) which could lead to slowdowns, crashes, system hangs or other unpredictable results. In the past I have tried used look'n'stop, sygate, comodo, zonealarm and outpost for firewall and norton(back when it was still very slow and heavy), nod32 (when it was the leanest meanest product around) and avira antivirus products but none have performed so well as kaspersky, zero popups for day to day use and no noticable slowdowns
