Best antivirus internet security for laptop

I use Unthreat Antivirus because it's free and easy to use. I don't think you need to spend money to get a good antivirus, I've been using Unthreat for a while now and haven't had a virus since I got it.

You would be hard pressed unless you really had a feel for you machine to know the difference between ESET Smart Security 5xxx or Norton Internet Security 2013 affecting the speed of your machine. I think that downloading files is faster with NIS compared to ESS. I may be wrong but I do not think so. KIS 2013 is probably the very best but will slow you down a little. Bitdefender Internet Securtiy 2013 is a little bit faster than KIS. It is always updating at least this last month. Panda Cloud is not noticed at all. Well that is my two cents worth. I have messed with all of them for fun. I am running a eMachine 250 with only a gig of RAM. You have to figure out which one you like the best for yourself. I am presently running ESS 5.2.15 and it is really good for not slowing my machine down.

Thx for your explanation, now i use ESS 5.2.15 too, it very lightweight anti virus and do not slow down my laptop. ;)

Norton Internet Security 2013

Why?

1. Very light on system

2. Great protection

3. You can get a genuine 180 day key from Norton unlimited topic or use the trial reset wich also gives 180day, so it's absouletly free, no blacklisted crack or key

Kaspersky is also very good, the 2013 version is lighter than the previous versions.

NIS been hacked and it's code has been spread all over web

meanwhile, I found my system suddenly hacked and my NIS has been shutdown can't be removed or opened

moreover , NIS 2013 is to damn slow...

Yeah, but I used a few other free antiviruses and I feel like they didn't work as good as Unthreat.

Hacked? I don't think so. The sourcecode that is on the web is for Norton 2006. In 2009 norton done a full rebuild on the code that is why it's very light. I think you got some virus, no antivirus is 100% bulletproof. And what system do you have if NIS 2013 is slow? Maybe it has some conflict with other programs or drivers.

When you are sick where do you go?

You go to a doctor because he is an expert.

You need to choose a medicine for your machine.

You ask the experts - there are several labs who test antivirus products regularly - AV-tests / AV comparatives ..

Please look at their report before making your decision.

If security is your primary focus (not performance) you should definitely go with the product which has the highest detection rate and repair rate - Bitdefender, Kaspersky, Norton.

If performance is a good issue and you are low on system resources you should not be that paranoid about highest detection/repair - just go for ESET, Webroot, Microsoft default.

If you are willing to choose in between the above two categories go for F Secure, G Data, Bull Guard ..

I've used Comodo and Avast before and its very light and powerful. Avast's web/network shield are great and stop most malware. Comodo has the new virtual browser, sandbox, D+ and Cloud scanner. It's a great combo and its free.

nothing exactly the best choose for that. just use the one you trust. I recommend you to use ESS cuz I trust this one and my laptop safe from viruses till now. ^_^ :pirate:
