Picollo
i wanna check if i have some malware that my antivirus/antispyware may have missed, because my IE 9 crashes all the time (the 32 bit version that is, the x64 one is working fine).Has anyone tried it? A friend told me to be very careful with it because it can mess with OS.
broascadilie
I wood sugest to go and scan your hole OS with something like Norton or Avira and in the same time use Malwarebytes Antimalware and/or Superantispyware. This is what is do.Scanning with a full featured AV and an antispyware solution. Both scanning in the same time
mikie
ComboFix is only dangerous if you run it without reading proper instructions from some popular site. You gotta follow the where to run it from and don't forget to properly remove it. It still leaves some crap that you'll discover for months and wonder what that is.. until you do a web search to remind you. Hacker tools!!!! unknownasphyxiated
sometimes you need to uninstall certain software as its not compatible with cobofix combofix should be use as last solution, not first what you can do, install and scan your pc using malwarebytes download this tool as it can detect and remove toolbar Adwcleaner then re-check for any undetect toolbar through IE x32 then fix IE using this tool Repair IE

Cassus
This is the typical 20 opinions thread :DI've used combofix (and only combofix) for the last few years and the only problem i had was that it removed my notepad2 modification.i used it on about 300 computers and different OS's. if it couldn't remove smth. i removed it by hand or simply chilled for a week and tried again.seems it works pretty well. dcs18
By the time, this thread reaches it's logical end, you'll find advice to use almost every security system on Earth (to address that simple question about Combofix.) My humble suggestion for those infected (and those besotted) is simple - just go back in time to a recent restore state when the system was working perfectly right (saves you a lot of time and brings peace of mind.) If that's not viable/possible, reformat the system to a fresh Windows unless you don't care (or lack the wherewithal) that leads to a pleasurable computing experience. :)
sirri
That's why how important Imaging Software just in case if you face like this in the future. Or you can try Instant Sys Restore like RollBackRx. Last option if you want get headache, simple just re-format your HD.But my opinion about this is Uninstall/Remove IE9 then reinstall. Its not always about infections
dcs18
I do hope fervently, that it's not an infection (may most probably be just an add-on conflict.) :)The fun starts when Norton is installed and a few precious KeyGens, patches (and serials/product keys :lmao: are detected as viral.)Next, Avira is installed and detects the Norton trojan.Next comes MBAM and detects the (Norton + Avira) backdoor.Next in the queue, Superantispyware detects worms in (Norton + Avira + MBAM)So on and so forth until Combofix declares the OS to be the largest successful commercial whore-house of the Century. :sneaky:

Picollo
damnit but i have avast is with heuristics at the maximum and mbam pro real time protection on. wonder what caused the infection because i only get warnings about the keygens i download nothing more.but that doesnt matter, gonna backup some stuff and do a clean install of win 7. doing a system restore and go back in time is out of the question because i disabled it some time ago, :(
