ASUS P5GPL Motherboard : http://www.asus.com/...P5GPL/#download

- latest BIOS (stable , not beta) : P5GPL BIOS 0801 (http://dlcdnet.asus....GPL/P5gpl08.zip)

-> I downloaded , unzipped and it`s a .ROM file

- BIOS flash utility : AFUDOS V2.13 (http://dlcdnet.asus....L/AFUDOS213.zip)

-> I downloaded , unzipped and it`s a .exe file

How can I update bios using these files ? :think:

These days, you can update from within Windows. .rom, .bak whatever. Download and run the aforementioned Afudos utility, click "Update from file" and select the .rom file from the popup screen. Just make sure your power is stable if you don't wanna brick your board. :)

`Afudos` utility didn`t work ...

Fantastic`s advice solved the problem ! :)

Thank you all !

It`s really strange that such a useful utility is not on Asus`s support site ...

If there is a power outage and the laptop changes to run in battery, mode will it cause any damage when updating the BIOS (or)Can i update the BIOS using a fully charged battery?

No.

Can i update the BIOS using a fully charged battery?

Before beginning the BIOS update, if the attempt is made using just the fully charged battery (without power switched on,) the system recognizes the same and refuses to start the BIOS update - the User is warned with an error window to switch on the power.

No. Not as long as the changeover is seamless.

Exactly as Rocketman said :)
